  1. That's basically how I feel as well. Isn't there a cap on how much they can obtain from another team's pool though?
  2. That better be a lot of pool space. I wasn't expecting much but these two guys......ugh
  3. Mildly off topic, but does anyone know what has happened to one of last year's international signees, Luis Acosta? He's had a total of 4AB this year for one of the Cubs DSL teams, struck out each time and hasn't played since. Injured?
  4. Did I miss a Marlins/Rangers trade?
  5. had TJS last year. Seriously, wouldn't you want more for Garza than Drabek and Nolin? I've never been high on Drabek at all. Nolin looks decent but the risk with Drabek is enough to offset any overall upside to me.
  6. Nolin puts up some awfully pretty numbers for being a lower ceiling guy. After pitching 70+ innings for the Jays in each of the last two seasons, why is Drabek back in HighA ball? Did he get hurt or something? Either way, Nolan is ok and I would hope for something more for Garza.
  7. How is Orioles a very good fit considering what Garza should bring back? It would means that one of Bundy/Gausman is def coming back (since it says including 2 top prospects) unless this guy meaning of "top prospect" is a lot different than mine. I thought the same thing. I'm guessing he is saying that the O's are a good fit based on need rather than ability to provide the pieces the Cubs would want. Unless with Bundy's TJS they're willing to move him for Garza. If that's true and the 2nd prospect is LHP Eduardo Rodriguez, then maybe, but the only way that is worth it for the O's is if they can extend Garza. For the third prospect, throw-in somebody like Michael Belfiore as a future lefty out of the pen and I'm definitely interested in that for Garza. Add something going back the other way if necessary. Are the O's desperate enough to win this year (they're 3 up in the wild card race) to give up on Bundy assuming they can work out a pre-trade deal to extend Garza? How do you guys feel about Bundy post-TJS? I'd jump at it personally. While the Vizcaino situation make it a little more difficult, I would love to get Bundy. A far as injuries go, TJS is much better than a shoulder issue.
  8. Just as I'm having trouble seeing the Orioles come up with two good prospects for Garza, the only matches I could find on the Rockies roster (seeing as they don't want to give up prospects, not that they have any...) that the Cubs would be interested in for Feldman are Pomeranz and Chatwood. Does it make sense for the Rockies to trade either of these guys to improve their roster this year? Who else could they be thinking of dealing? Chacin? That said, would you take Pomeranz in exchange for Feldman? At first glance, I would. Am I missing something? I would too.

  10. Has anything been communicated about Zastryzny? As a college guy you'd have to think that he sees Boise this year right? I find it a little odd that Skulina, who signed after him, has been assigned to Boise already while Zastryzny is still in instructs(?).
  11. Good to hear. That's some serious OF speed in TN. Bijan Rademacher up to Hi-A. Haven't seen who's replacing him at KC I've seen two Cougars games this year and Rademacher has raked in both, including the longest homer I've seen in that park. For anyone familiar with 5th 3rd park, he hit it to straight away right field, over the canopy section, onto the walkway. TT was there for that game as well.
  12. 06/28 6. Alberto Cabera, rhp, Cubs Team: Double-A Tennessee (Southern) Age: 24. Why He’s Here: 8 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER. 3 BB, 13 Ks. The Scoop: If the Cubs were less desperate for starting pitching and playing more for today, Cabrera might be pitching in their big league bullpen now. That’s the role he filled throughout 2012, when he was pegged as a reliever and made his major league debut in August. But the front office moved him back to the rotation and returned him to Double-A this year and it has paid off, as Cabrera has posted a career-best strikeout rate as a starter as well as a reduced walk rate. In the Team Photo Paul Blackburn, rhp, Cubs: When the Cubs drafted Blackburn in the supplemental first round last year, they knew he had better feel than the average high school arm. That has been apparent in his first three starts at short-season Boise. The 19-year-old has walked two while striking out 20 and has yet to allow an earned run. He was 0-1, 0.00 this week with 12 strikeouts in 10 innings.
  13. You can get that from Gameday. 92-95 with his fastball. Gameday is blocked at work for me :(
  14. Anyone actually watching the game that report on Garza's velocity?
  15. This is Tunney pining for an envelope stuffed with cash. Nothing more. Nothing less.
  16. BA shows Skulina as signed. They are usually a day or two slow. Has the signing not been made official?
  17. Reading the article that he's gone 10 minutes ago. That's just sad. Ignorance is bliss, I guess. No, bliss is no longer having to watch Marmol pitch. He certainly had some good years (2007-2010) but he has run his course in Chicago. I won't miss him and if that means I'm "ignorant" then so be it.
  18. Not surprised at all. Sad that they couldn't get something for Marmol but he's been terrible and it's time to move on. Gregg has been good enough to (hopefully) net something of value at the deadline. As for Stewart, good riddance.
  19. Would be awesome if he could do some stuff at Boise and instantly make himself interesting. Since both were college players, is it assumed that both Hanneman and Zastryzny go to Boise rather than the AZL Cubs?
  20. You do realize you can't just do that, right? Well, we'd have to expose him to waivers and/or give him the opportunity to decline the assignment, right? Sounds pretty doable. I think he would pass through waivers at this point. Not too many teams would be willing to pay the remainder of his salary for a sketchy 7/8th inning guy with horrible control issues and a serious case of the yips. If he declines the assignment, is the club off the hook for his salary?
  21. Rusin threw a CG shutout allowing 5 hits while striking out 8.
  22. No one's going to buy in because of his average stuff. But it's really hard to ignore what he's done, and his performance has nothing to do with luck. I have him 14th right now in my top 15. I guess it's hard to get excited over any Cubs pitcher in the minors right now, so I guess we'll take it. There are two guys that could provide legitimate excitement besides Pierce Johnson. Unfortunately, one of them is probably not going to pitch this year and the other is currently not being allowed into the United States. Blackburn and Underwood could join the group depending on their outings the rest of the year, or even Maples for that matter. Zastryzny as well. note: spell check's suggestion for Zastryzny was Astronomy. I don't have much hope for Maples.
