  1. Ahhh, right on time. Ahahaha!! Now it's officially on! Please be the Cards or Pirates.
  2. Isn't it next year? Yup. They sign 2014 contracts. I had no idea. I guess it's safe to stop looking then.
  3. I haven't seen Gleyber Torres in any box scores yet. I assume he will play in the VSL. Is that correct? Anyone have an idea when we might see the kid start playing some games?
  4. I saw a KC game a couple weeks ago. Maples started that game and I was there early enough to watch his (and others) entire warmup routine. I sat four rows up from the bullpen mound and Maples was working closely with the KC pitching coach on his mechanics, specifically stressing the motion and the strain it places on his shoulder. They were clearly working to iron out his mechanics, something I had never seen immediately prior to a start. He was listening closely and trying to incorporate the feedback though, to his credit. His results that day were very poor as he had horrible command and didn't last past the first inning. He had decent stuff , fb in the mid 90's, good breaking stuff, but he wasn't repeating his delivery and just couldn't find the zone. He very clearly needs to spend time with Derek Johnson.
  5. Kaplan is a moron. Notice how he makes a prediction, then immediately gives himself an out in case it doesn't happen. The Cubs front office is very tight-lipped and keeps things out of the media. I highly doubt they speak to Kaplan and I highly doubt he has any "sources". He's making stuff up to keep himself "relevant".
  6. I listened to the Sox broadcast for a few innings before I realized that Len and JD were on a different channel with Dish Network. Hawk and Steve are brutal. It drove me crazy when every run that was scored by the Cubs was due to a miscue from the Sox rather than a quality AB, good baserunning, or whatever. Garza wasn't pitching well, the Sox hitters weren't being patient, or were expanding the zone or the home plate ump made a bad call etc. They give zero credit to the opponent. I can't remember the exact topic and it is important to make my point so sorry, but.... they were discussing something about front offices or traveling or something like that and Stoney asked Hawk his opinion about something and Hawk made a point to take a jab at Sabermetrics - "Well you have so many people in the front office these days that are Sabermatricians". The thing that made me laugh is that the topic had nothing to do with Sabermetrics, yet he dragged that in to make his point. Do sox fans realize how much of a homer this guy really is? Seriously, he is just horrible. The constant "Hawkisms" defy explanation. What the hell does "Hang Wiff Um" even mean?
  7. According to Bruce Miles via Twitter, Camp was granted his release today.
  8. #-o My bad. I think I clicked his name rather than his minor league stats.
  9. I guess baseballreference is wrong...here are his stats from BA. He hasn't played since late May so my question remains. http://www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/players/cards/40461
  10. I know he's injured but 50% of the season is done and he has yet to play a single game. Does anyone know the extent of his injury? Am I beating a dead horse?
  11. - some video I don't see how they can afford him considering that they're delaying the signing of Jimenez while they try and find more pool space. The asian guys do count against he intl cap, right?
  12. BA also listed Vizcaino at #83 "Recovering from Tommy John surgery."
  13. Luis Acosta sighting in the DSL. 1-3 with a double and a walk.
  14. Good question and I have wondered that myself. I have sent that question to BA twice and it had yet to be answered.
  15. 100% agree. I don't question the trade for more space at all. Losing Torreyes isn't that big of a deal.
  16. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-chicago-cubs-shawn-camp--20130703,0,3402051.story
  17. Although I'd rather see him start his professional career sooner rather than later, the deadline is 7/12 (next Friday) so there is still time.
  18. Or they realized that Jimenez will sign elsewhere.
  19. What are the penalties that the Rangers should be expecting? Just fines?
  20. Looks like Rusin is being called up to take his spot in the rotation. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-chicago-cubs--feldman-clevenger--20130702,0,5019558.story
