  1. Finally, after a full commercial break they just joined the game in progress. WTF are they doing at FSSW?
  2. This effing game still has 45 seconds to go. There have been two timeouts, a clock problem and about 30 seconds of awful basketball in the past 10 minutes.
  3. It's a 16-point game with 1:12 to go and these bitches are fouling! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  4. Okay, even worse, FSSW is showing Texas vs. Texas A&M women's basketball. I'd rather poke my eyes out. 2:00 left, and I think they are actually going to preempt the start of the game for this rubbish.
  5. I really hate the WGN games. They are very seldom on Center Ice. So it's Dallas announcers for me. Oh well.
  6. I don't know about the European option. It's interesting, but yeah, definitely not realistic. I agree with all three of those Canadian cities. Actually, if the league took Nashville, Phoenix, Tampa and Miami and put them in those three cities and Hartford, I would be a happy human.
  7. I have nothing against Nashville, but I really hope they end up moving to a Canadian or northern U.S. city. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=267849&lid=sublink07&lpos=headlines_nhl I haven't really thought that much about it, but is there really not enough support in a place like Portland or Seattle for a franchise? It seems from afar that Seattle is a Seahawks town and isn't otherwise very passionate about it's sports, and I don't know much about Portland. What cities should get a team from among Bettman's failed sun belt experiment?
  8. Stars have won their last two games since the drubbing at the UC last Saturday night. I have to think they'll start to suffer without Richards though. Just not enough firepower there. Sounds like Tallon is playing it coy about possible trades. I can't imagine they wouldn't do anything though: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/1442461,CST-SPT-hawk21.article And Ziehm also writes that Q is kicking around the idea of starting Niemi tomorrow night: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/1442249,chicago-blackhawks-huet-022109.article I like the mid-afternoon game. Was considering going down to the St. Louis Mardi Gras celebration today, but it's too damn cold. So I'll be watching.
  9. I may have said he sucks in a fit of anger during a game, but I know he doesn't. I can't believe we have to keep going back to this point in the argument. It's not Huet sucks vs. Huet doesn't suck. It's Khabi vs. Huet and whether the team will be improved for this year by trading Khabi for a forward. I say they wouldn't.
  10. Perhaps the least reliable way to judge a professional athlete's worth. Not including yesterday's game, Huet was facing five fewer shots per game than Khabibulin. So the team plays a more offensive-minded game when Khabi is behind them. Looks like their eyeballs work.
  11. Since Huet/Khabi is all we talk about these days, here is Rosenbloom's take on it: http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/rosenblog/2009/02/a-hobbled-khabi-is-why-you-keep-huet-in-house.html This part was interesting: The eyeball test. This encapsulates my thoughts on this all along. As for the next game, I think it was Murray last night on the radio who said he thought Niemi would get the start Saturday night in light of the Hawks totally owning Dallas this year. But he also hinted that Khabi might be back and able to start on Sunday, in which case Huet would just start Saturday night and Niemi would be on a bus back to Rockford.
  12. I got through but couldn't get anything I wanted. There will be plenty of opportunity to get tickets later in the season, so I'm not bummed.
  13. Apparently my office computer can't handle more than 45 windows. Just crashed and had to close them and start over. Ugh. I just want one weekend game so we can make the trip up there. Is that too much to ask?!
  14. Yes Thanks. 40 windows, still nothing.
  15. Can you pick your game after you get in?
  16. I thought about that one, but I'm going for the July 11 Cards game.
  17. Caught the last ten minutes on the radio on my way home from the airport and then watched a fast-forwarded version of the game when I got home. I didn't watch much, but obviously Huet was sharp. Glad to see it, believe it or not. What else can be said about Eager? I love his hustle on every shift, and I'm glad that's it's paying off for him in terms of goals. He deserves it. He's clearly very skilled and wants to show he's more than a fighter. So far, so good. I agree about the 4th seed, Kyle. But that's only because it would take quite a collapse for them to lose it and if they get even close to that I won't even be able to bear to watch. But you know, even if they were the 5th seed, the way they play on the road, it wouldn't be a killer.
  18. That's awesome. Very jealous. My grandma was born there but I've never been. Wish I could say I could go this year, but it's not gonna happen. If the Hawks fly tonight like they did Tuesday, they'll win. Otherwise, I share your concerns about this one. Will be watching a Tivo'd version when I get home tonight. Hopefully I'll be happy.
  19. The problem is listening to sports talk radio. I follow the Chicago papers and CSN, and from what I've seen on both, the Blackhawks are getting a tremendous amount of coverage. Yeah, especially on CSN, I agree. But they are an interested party, of course. One follows the other though. If the print and television media keeps up the coverage the fan interest will follow, and then talk radio will follow. They know what makes people turn the station. Apparently hockey is still one of those things in Chicago.
  20. It may have only taken a year to bring back the fans, but it's going to take much longer than that to get this team some respect in the sports media in Chicago, especially talk radio. Boers and Bernstein have a healthy distaste for hockey. Mike North tried (and I think still does on CSN), but he's clueless. I don't listen to ESPN 1000, so I can't speak for the guys over there. But judging by your post, it's not much better. Interest will pick up when the playoffs start, but it's going to take a lot to build the type of interest that will get these radio guys to give the Hawks some air time.
  21. I don't know enough to criticize but it seems to me like Huet went down to his knees really early in the shot on the third goal. Seems like it would be easy to roof it over his head that way. Am I wrong on this? And if I am is this something he normally does? That is generally one of his problems. Compare early in the game how Ramo came out and challenged the shooter, and how Huet was sitting back on the goal Stamkos scored from farther out. You can go to your knees if you're out far enough to take away the angles. The shooter simply shouldn't score on the short side (stick side) from that distance. You're still susceptible to the roofer, but not many guys can pull off that shot. You say Kane do it last night. Great win. Going to be traveling tomorrow night and will miss the game. Bummer, should be a good one with the way Florida has been playing.
  22. That was a beautiful performance. Stamkos and Ramo made it far closer than it should've been, but the Hawks absolutely dominated. I'm going to get attacked every time I point this out now, but Huet was a sieve when he was challenged. He wasn't strong on the first goal, and the shot from outside he was too far back into the net. If he came out at all there would've been no angle. Keep scoring 5 goals and it won't matter though.
  23. Do we have a goaltender out there? I'm sorry, I couldn't tell.
  24. Good for Provus. Nice step up and he'll be working with one of the best.
