  1. Oh boy, Cyno isn't going to like this. All Fraser did was come into a situation where two Habs had one Hawk pinned against the boards. He just came in and nudge up to him. Ridiculous call.
  2. What the hell did Sharp do there? Terrible. EDIT: Ah, he kicked the keeper's stick away. Tricky bastard. :D
  3. 4:00 minutes. I'm in favor of that. You jump a guy after a perfectly clean hit, you should get a double minor.
  4. Haha Aaron Johnson destroyed the younger Kostitsyn, and his big brother tried to stick up for him. Pansies.
  5. Ugh. Nice work Keith, and Huet didn't appear to be ready. 25 seconds? Seriously guys?
  6. Huet back in net tonight. We can't wait three games for him to get hot again.
  7. The fix seems so simple. Whichever RSN is considered your "home" channel, that should be the only one that is blacked out on EI. But I guess I've never lived anywhere but near a large MLB city. Do folks in TN and mid-Ohio have just one RSN? Or do you have one at all?
  8. I agree but it sounds like Georgia is going to offer him almost a million more per season. That's more than just a 'few more dollars.' It would be pretty bad for Missouri to lose Anderson to Georgia. It's not like that's his "dream job" or where he's from or anything like that. Selfishly, I hope they do lose him. But I can't imagine they will.
  9. No, you are absolutely not the only one. I was about the post pretty much the same thing. This is going to sound overly dramatic, but it's like my love of baseball died last October. Sure, that always happens when my teams lose like the Cubs did, and usually the excitement comes back a few months before the next season starts. Didn't happen this year. I have no interest in buying tickets. Usually by this time I have tickets lined up for several Cubs-Cards games at Busch. I haven't even looked. I attribute some of it to my mind being on hockey, but mostly I think it's that last summer was so perfect, and the way it was ruined just makes me think I'm not read for another six month investment in these guys. EDIT: But talk to me in June. Or May. Or next week. :)
  10. That's not what happened at all. I just watched the video again. Burish was standing there by the Sedins with two linesmen there between them, and O'Brien came storming in after Burish. Seabrook then paired off with him. Whatever, I'm done with this. Big game tonight against the frogs. Too bad we won't get Pat and Eddie.
  11. It wasn't about that game anymore, it was about the next one (or the next "series"). That may be true...but picking fights with the Sedins is not intimidating anyone, even the Sedins. I am not going to dig through the thread to find any examples, but this kind of goonery has been bashed by several Hawks fans here. The Sedins happened to be on the ice, but the bigger combatants were O'Brien, Burrows and Bieksa. Who rank 3rd, 28th and 63rd in PIMs in the league, respectively.

  13. Something tells me the Canucks didn't leave that game worried about getting pounded. When a team is willing to lay the hard checks and make a lot of contact, it impacts how a lot of guys go into the corners after pucks. It's just an instinct and a split-second reaction to take a path to the puck that won't get you killed. And that path is probably less likely to lead to possession of the puck. "Worried" isn't the correct term for it. Not to play word games, but I would say "mindful." On the flip side, the Hawks should be mindful of the fact that Vancouver will run them out of the building if they come out sleepwalking again. Thats not what the Hawks did though. They cheap shot the goalie and during all the tie ups, Burish went after one of the Sedins, who everyone knows doesnt fight. Why? Because they owned the Hawks all night. If the Hawks want to show me heart. In a big game, win the battles in the corners, finish their checks, make life miserable for the opposing goalie by having traffic in front of the net. Not only does this help you win, it disheartens the other team. My guess is Vancouver did not come out of last nights game worried about the heart the Hawks showed. Hopefully next game the Canucks will be more worried about Burish, Eager, and Byfuglien than Kane, Toews, and Sharp. At least that is the goal of something like that. See NJ vs. NYR last year. The hawks played terrible, yes, but Vancouver hardly dominated the game. Their goals were a result more of blackhawks mistakes than good plays on vancouver's part. I don't think the blackhawks walked away from the game scared of playing them in the playoffs either. And Luongo wasn't cheapshotted - he flopped Marty/Hasek style. It was definitely a goalie interference call, but it wasn't that bad. Yes you are probably right, the next time that the Canucks play the Hawks they are probably going to be worried that Burish, Eager, and Byfuglien are going to be goons after they get whooped at hockey. That is not what I was saying. Stop being a troll. I dont think I am being a troll, I am just giving a honest unbiased assessment of what happened the other night. I also understood what you are trying to say. What I am saying is that what the Hawks did on Sunday night will not lead to the results that you are wishing. Like I said in other posts, win battles in the corners, put consistent pressure on in front of the goalie, finish checks. Stand up when the other team is behaving like goons. That will get your desired effect. You've made your point.
  14. I wish I could, but not knowing the dates of the games, it's tough. And if there is a weekend game, I won't be able to afford the secondary market prices. So I'll be watching from home.
  15. Right, but there are a ton of out-of-market fans. Plus somebody mentioned all the fantasy people. I wouldn't buy ST just for that, but I'm sure people do. Between those two groups, obviously there is a market for ST and Directv can get what they are charging. It's not worth the price to me, especially with the additional $100 for HD (and I would never get ST without the HD), but clearly there is a market for it.

It was definitely a goalie interference call, but it wasn't that bad. I agree with you on everything except that last part. Buff clearly put a closed fist into Luongo's face and made a jabbing motion. I don't know if Luongo embellished it, but like was mentioned last night, if someone did that to Nik or Huet, I would hope he would get pummeled.

  18. Aren't you a Wings fan? Yes, it sucked that the Hawks got their teeth kicked in where it counts, but I'm encouraged by the fact that they showed a little heart on a night when they clearly weren't going to beat Luongo. Now Montreal. Game is on Vs., by the way. I haven't been following them lately, but the last I heard they were in a freefall. So giving the goalie a cheap shot and getting into a line brawl with Vancouver while the Sedins and Burrows line is out there is showing heart? It didn't appear to be Buff's "cheap shot" (which I agree it was, I said that last night) that started the fracas. And Burrows and Bieksa seemed like perfectly willing participants. Sure, the sisters were hiding, but what were the Hawks supposed to do? The playoffs are going to be very physical, and the Sedins and the Hair-Puller need to know that they won't be able to do anything without getting pounded.
  19. I found decent (free and illegal) online feeds for most Bears game this year and that was fine. I went to a bar to watch one game (the Atlanta debacle, of course). Ended up spending about $60 on booze and food. So yeah, ST would be more economical if I was doing that every week.
  20. Apparently Directv doesn't publish that number: http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/california/ci_11989270 It also sounds like by 2012 there will be some sort of broadband version of ST offered to non-Directv subscribers. I don't even subscribe to ST because it's ridiculously expensive and I'd rather pay for Center Ice and Extra Innings, but I like having the option to do so.
  21. http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/industries/media/nfl-directv-extend-nfl-sunday-tickettm-agreement--season/ Sounds like later...
  22. I would consider going to U-verse (from Directv) because they have four-tuner DVRs and multi-room viewing (MVR -- can record on one DVR and watch on any other TV). I've heard there are some hitches with the MVR that make it not as awesome as it sounds, but it's better than paying Directv for two DVRs. All that aside though, I love Directv. The service rarely has weather issues, the HD is great, and the extras they have are great. Like the Masters channels and all the extra Olympics coverage. And during the hurricanes last fall, they added local New Orleans and Houston news channels that were running continuous coverage.

  24. Haha Buff got in one more shot. Well, crap game. At least the 3rd was entertaining. Q better skate these clowns hard tomorrow.
