  1. Bad call to even let Gould try that kick. Try to pin them rather than giving up field position.
  2. I'm pretty bummed about this one. Not a huge fan, but with the family being from there a few generations back, OM has always been my SEC team. From afar, I wonder why they weren't running McCluster all along with how good he looked in the 4th.
  3. I hate Hendry too, but you guys are letting the hatred blind you in this case. What was he supposed to say? He's got to trade him. I think we all agree on that. So, was there anything Hendry could have said that would help him in that charge? I don't think so. I like that he held his ground. To hell with that guy. At least he was honest.
  4. I get the feeling they aren't going to be taking a step forward, but as long as they don't take a step back, I won't be all that disappointed. Yeah, I think another conference finals run (maybe longer than five games) is reasonable. But Rosenbloom is, of course, stoking pessimism in the Trib today.
  5. Don't you have Lendale White as your #2 RB now then? Yeah, make that deal, given the solid replacements you have. Unless you are so thin at backups that you would suffer during bye weeks.
  6. Great, his Mom is standing up for him. And, of course, Bradley claims fans were screaming racial slurs at his 3-year old son. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-22-haugh-chicago-sep22,0,798187.column Pretty easy for him to drop the race card in this situation to deflect from the real cause of his problems.
  7. Burish out six months with knee injury. Ouch. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/chi-23-hawks-burish-sep23,0,10691.story If Cyno were around, he might argue this opens up a spot for Beach. I may not disagree.
  8. If you ask me it's really not worth noting that he was really good for 10-15 games. Right. Like I said before, if this is a strategic move to get some flexibility during and after this season, then I can understand it. But they should get back that young defenseman, especially if Barker is going. I'm not confident in Aaron Johnson on the back line.
  9. I lost because Reggie Wayne couldn't get 12 more yards. I hate fantasy football.
  10. I broke down yesterday morning and got ST, and it was amazing. The Game Mix channel is heaven on TV.
  11. One rumor has it Sharpie/Buff for Frolov, and another source has it Versteeg/Barker for Frolov, but the common thing between the two is that there is one little holdup.........te Hawks want a young Dmen in return and LA is hesitating. I don't get why LA is hesitating. I know losing Frolov would hurt, but he's a FA at the end of the season. They can't expect the Hawks to give up two young playes (regardless of which package) who are under contract for a couple more seasons for a pending FA, and not ask for a real good Dmen in return. Again it sounds like the only thing that is holding this trade up is the Hawks wanting/needing a Dmen to come with Frolov. (I'm not liking the Sharp/Buff deal, unless of course the Hawks get Jack Johnson in return.) I don't know if I would do Sharp straight up for Frolov. I don't know a lot about him, but his numbers are pretty similar and Sharp seems to be the better two-way player. With Huet in goal (I promise I won't be a broken record about the goaltending this year), we need solid defensive guys on the front line. And you hit on the other thing. If the Hawks are heading toward cap hell, I presume this deal would be geared toward getting some cash off the books now to allow for some in-season flexibility and then even more flexibility when Frolov's contract expires after the season. I guess that makes some sense. The only way for this team to be consistently good, Detroit good, will be to be able to let guys go and bring up young guys to replace them without missing a beat. I would think that some of the willingness to let Buff go is based on how good Skille has looked. I'm still hesitant on this, but mostly because I love Sharp's nose for the puck.
  12. Exactly. Here's a little perspective for you. I was born in 1979. The Cubs have made the playoffs 6 times in my lifetime. The Cubs have also made the playoffs 6 times in my Dad's lifetime. He didn't have me when he was 10 either. There have been far worse stretches to be a fan of this team. We've just been teased into thinking it was, uh, gonna happen. Other than 1969, my dad saw a lot of [expletive] baseball until Sutcliffe and Sandberg came along.
  13. I have a hard time believing it will decline by 30%. Contrary to popular opinion, Wrigley doesn't sell-out every season win or lose, and tv ratings are directly correlated to success. It wasn't hard to sell hope in 99 and throughout much of the early 2000's, as a young emerging team with an expanding payroll, new acquisitions and newfound marginal success got hearts beating. They need to sell tickets this winter, and I'm guessing they will add enough payroll to add one fairly intriguing player. Yeah there's no chance it drops 30%. Even if they wanted to, it'd be tough to pull off with all the guaranteed money and no trade clauses. I would think from a PR standpoint alone Ricketts can't lower payroll. If anything, I'd think he would want to make a splash. I don't know if that's possible, but that would be my inclination if I was the filthy rich dude who just bought the baseball team I love.
  14. Yep. If he does play, hopefully a healthy Alex Brown or Wale can make it a short day for him.
  15. ESPN says broken rib for Hasselbeck, status for Sunday still uncertain. Obviously this is based on nothing concrete, but I'd be surprised if he plays.
  16. I would expect a plodding run attack on the road from Turner. Because it's a tough road environment, I'm a little concerned about this one. But we should win by 10.
  17. I would never trade in the Cubs, but I will admit that my attention level strays quite a bit when they go in the tank. Which means I've basically taken this season off. I never left the Blackhawks, but in the darkest days of the (William) Wirtz era I let myself root for the Blues. And I still do, as long as their interests don't conflict with the Hawks.
  18. I'm not rushing to pick him up. He'll need to do it a couple weeks in a row, unless you're in a 14-team league with flex spots. Then perhaps. I need about 50 yards tonight from Reggie Wayne to win. I cannot believe this. Aside from Chris Johnson and Warner, everyone else sucked. And the guy I'm playing had Rivers, V. Jackson and Barber later yesterday. I thought this was a walk...
  19. NBC, nice intro. Hillbillies. Yes, Taj Mahal, Parthenon ... Cowboys Stadium.
  20. It's about to get more awful. ;)
  21. But, but, the Bradley defenders say he hasn't had a negative impact on the team or clubhouse. Demp MUST BE a racist. :rotfl: Just read that article, and I think it says more than anything else that his teammates apparently have no sympathy. And how about A-Ram, saying he barely ever talked to him. That says to me Bradley decided long ago he had no interest in making this work.
  22. I'd g go that way as well since Polamalu is out. With Welker out should I go Mark Clayton vs. SD or Lee Evans vs. TB? Thanks for the suggestion, didn't see this until now. I ended up starting Hines Ward. Forgot I even had him. As it turns out, Harvin was the play. Luckily, I had Chris Johnson, so nothing else really mattered.
  23. ...so basically Hendry admits he made an emotional decision without thinking about how his action would affect the future. Who cares. This needed to be done. Right. Just because it was a rash decision doesn't mean it was a wrong one.
  24. If you're going to stay out of it, why do you post something so colossally stupid in the next sentence. The guy is a bitch. He came in with an attitude, didn't play up to his contract, and then blamed everyone but himself. But yeah, it's because he's black. Or I'm an idiot. It must be one of those two.
