One rumor has it Sharpie/Buff for Frolov, and another source has it Versteeg/Barker for Frolov, but the common thing between the two is that there is one little holdup.........te Hawks want a young Dmen in return and LA is hesitating. I don't get why LA is hesitating. I know losing Frolov would hurt, but he's a FA at the end of the season. They can't expect the Hawks to give up two young playes (regardless of which package) who are under contract for a couple more seasons for a pending FA, and not ask for a real good Dmen in return. Again it sounds like the only thing that is holding this trade up is the Hawks wanting/needing a Dmen to come with Frolov. (I'm not liking the Sharp/Buff deal, unless of course the Hawks get Jack Johnson in return.) I don't know if I would do Sharp straight up for Frolov. I don't know a lot about him, but his numbers are pretty similar and Sharp seems to be the better two-way player. With Huet in goal (I promise I won't be a broken record about the goaltending this year), we need solid defensive guys on the front line. And you hit on the other thing. If the Hawks are heading toward cap hell, I presume this deal would be geared toward getting some cash off the books now to allow for some in-season flexibility and then even more flexibility when Frolov's contract expires after the season. I guess that makes some sense. The only way for this team to be consistently good, Detroit good, will be to be able to let guys go and bring up young guys to replace them without missing a beat. I would think that some of the willingness to let Buff go is based on how good Skille has looked. I'm still hesitant on this, but mostly because I love Sharp's nose for the puck.
