Got some reason for hope the last few weeks from the offense, if not from the defense. And since we don't have any draft picks anyway, I'm glad they won. -
Well, this blog post from the omnipotent "Eklund" says the Hawks are one team in the running. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=25281&blogger_id=1 I don't think I would do what it would take. Picks, prospects and a couple of our contributors (here I'm talking about guys like Versteeg, Sharp). And I'm not sure we need another sniper.

Interesting to read the varying perspective on the game last night. I watched it in fast-forward and saw it the way you guys did. Chippy (and often dirty) play by the Blues, horrid officiating and a clear difference in talent level on the ice. Which, of course, we're pretty used to seeing. Then I read the Blues boards and it's "the Hawks are whiny little bitches," "the Blues outplayed the Hawks 80% of the game" (someone actually said that), and so on. There is some level of recognition among the fans here that they would like our team and would trade places with us in a heartbeat. But then they fall back into calling us bandwagon fans. Which is funny because I was going to Blues games a few years ago when there were less than 3,000 people in the building. Overall, nice to see some production out of Kopecky, even if it was mostly because Ty Conklin was channelling his inner Cristobal Huet. And sucks to be Tkachuk, eh?

Well, interesting wrinkle thrown into tonight's game. Blues fired Andy Murray this morning or late last night. Wonder how they will come out tonight.

What a boost. Dallas played a great defensive period for 19:57. One lapse and we zapped 'em. Now find the energy again and blow them out of the building in the third.

Oh yeah, I'm still very confident at this point. Just pisses me off that Huet has games like this.

The third one was terrible. Slipped through his five hole. The fourth one went off the back or maybe the skate of someone in the high slot, changed direction and went into the open net.

No focus at all. I'm not saying he should have made that save, but he made no effort.

I'm really glad the announcer just said it. It's time to pull Huet. That stupid bastard is going to cost us this game. Get him the hell out of there.

22-8 shots in the 1st. Just ridiculous how much better our five are than theirs almost 100% of the time.

Jesus Christ Huet sucks sometimes. Completely dominated this period, more than usual, and because he can't even stand up on his skates or go side to side in less than five seconds, it's 2-2.

For starters he needs to drench his gloves in stickum. You guys are both right. But of course as soon as we rip him he gets s 25-yarder.

I fully expect Detroit to make a strong push and even contend for the division once they get their team back. They are too well coached and too talented. I don't see any way they remain the 8th seed.
