Wow, Barry Rozner got himself a mention. But that piece is total homerism. He acknowledges some of the reasons why the fans and media don't like this Canucks team. And they are legitimate reasons! But the media isn't casting them in a negative light. Luongo's ridiculously stupid comments about Tim Thomas weren't taken out of context. Lapierre's shameful play isn't being distorted -- it's there for all of us to see. And as for the Sedins, it's more than the dives. They play like sissies. They'll get into a scrum, do something stupid and then sneak away. And then they'll snap their head back and go down in a heap anytime a stick or elbow gets within three feet of their head.

It's one thing to just be a dirty team. There have been plenty of them over the years. But to be dirty, and then be diving little pansies at the same time, and then to be as talented as they are? Yeah, it's a rare thing. I wonder what Canadians outside of the pacific northwest are thinking about this team. I know Vancouver has a weird relationship with the rest of Canada to begin with, but I wonder if there is even more of a distaste for this team up there like there seems to be here.

Really? At this point is it okay for me to root for the Brewers in order to spite St. Louis? And for a higher draft pick? Not really, and it's messed up to question someone for rooting for the Cubs on a Cubs message board I guess my tone didn't translate. I wasn't meaning to be critical. Meant it be more joking... I just read his post and thought, "wow, do I really want the Cubs to win tonight?" My first answer to my own question was "I don't care." The second was "no, not really." -

The worst part for me is that their heroes, save for Luongo, have been some of their dirtiest, most dishonorable players -- Burrows and Lapierrere. These guys deserve to lose game 6 and then lose game 7 at home in overtime. A guy can dream...

The B's weathered the initial rush from the Canucks and have had some great chances the last few minutes. Wow. What action. Or WHAT CHAOS, as Doc likes to say.

Great start. Vancouver is definitely controlling the play, but they just can't stop taking cheap shots.

That was awesome. They really are predictable. You could see their effort level drop a little with each goal that was scored last night. They are still a fragile team between the ears. God I hope they blow this. I said it several weeks ago. As long as they don't win the Cup, at least in some small way we still own them.

Unless he's got a compelling personal reason to stay in Chicago, I just don't know why a guy like him would want to play out the string on this crappy team. Just guessing, but unless he's hurt I'm sure he's thinking he's going to bounce back any day now and put up big numbers the rest of the year. If he does that but he's traded then he's locked in to next year wherever he goes. He'll be making a good chunk of change for 2012 if that's the case, true, but I'm sure he'd rather try for something like a 3-year deal for, say, at least around $9 million per. I know that's by no means a sure thing, but who knows what he's thinking/his agent is telling him? With 3B production down across baseball if he can rebound and have a huge second half it suddenly makes him that much more appealing as FA to a number of teams. That makes sense. Not that it will actually happen, but that he probably thinks it will.

I know it's his right, but it would be a pretty punk thing to do to not accept a trade to a contender. First, it shows no appreciation for all the money the Cubs have paid him. And second, and more importantly, it shows that he really has no desire to win and doesn't want to deal with the pressure of a pennant race at this point in his career. Who wants that kind of guy around?

PBF is fighting Victor Ortiz on September 17. At least before he could claim he was ducking MP due to his ongoing legal troubles. But Ortiz should bring an interesting fight. He showed he could handle with Berto, who probably has the fastest hands this side of Floyd.

We can go around and around on this, but okay, fine, I'll reserve judgment on the Ricketts family assuming there is a long-term plan. But leaving Hendry at the helm is the fatal flaw.
