  1. Toews confirmed he is playing.
  2. If we learned anything from the Keith incident, if it's deemed to be retaliation, that makes it worse. I think that's bogus too, but it's how Shanahan has said he looks at things. Anyway, Scottrade is going to be one nervous building tonight. I'll bet they wish they weren't the favorites. Though they are such a good home team. Will need Halak to stand on his head.
  3. Oh, and Bitz is having a hearing for his hit from behind. Which he got a major and a game for. So he was already punished and will likely be punished more. And Weber got no punishment on the ice and will get none. The fine doesn't count. Jersey, you're right. It's open season. I'm concerned about Toews going the way of Montador.
  4. What a joke. And I don't necessarily disagree with those Wings fans. Sure they are going over the top, but what if Zetterberg's skull had been busted open? Setting the severity of the injury aside, what Weber and Bertuzzi did aren't that different. Clear intent to injure outside the bounds of any action that might help your team win.
  5. I still disagree strongly with the outcome (extent of injury) deciding the punishment. Maybe Zetterberg should have let himself be taken off on a stretcher like Burrows would have.
  6. I think this is different than most cases. Not to be overly dramatic, but this was assault. You can question intent or even excuse a slew foot or elbow coming up or hitting a guy from behind during play. Things happen, a guy turns at the last second. It's a fast game. But what Weber did had nothing to do with the game. It was unquestionably an attempt to injure. Throw the book at him. Five games.
  7. Holy hell just saw what Weber did. The yapping heads in Canada are saying maybe a game at most. How is that possible? It's one thing to go too far with a check. A hockey play. This was an after the whistle (after the game, actually) mugging. That's egregious. Wow.
  8. And I dislike the Canucks because of the way they play. The diving, the dirty play and then the "who me?" attitude about it. Sure I love that they implode and Luongo is the worst contract in sports. But they are such a hateable team.
  9. Watching this game I am finding myself rooting for them.
  10. The officiating in this Detroit-Nashville game is absolutely atrocious. Let 'em play for Christ's sake. And Detroit is really getting the shaft, by the way.
  11. Yeah I agree with that. Though I didn't hate the Blues like I do the Canucks. Maybe I was just too young and didn't hate Brett because his name was Hull. The Blues were rather easy to dislike, at least to this Wings fan. I don't think the Hawks were good enough through those years that most of their fans really gave a crap. I think I just focused my hate on the Wings. The Wings had several players who were easy to dislike back then also. I think part of their current problem is that they don't have enough guys who really get under the other teams skin. It wasn't even about the players. With the North Stars, it was. Ciccarelli and the like. I just knew I hated the Wings. As an adult and just slightly more rational, you're right. There's not all that much to actually dislike about the Wings of the last decade. Give it another playoff series and maybe I'll sing a different tune. That '09 series wasn't all that intense. Seemed like a foregone conclusion.

  13. Damn that looked like a gapper off the bat.
  14. Would be nice if Maholm hadn't swung at ball four.
  15. Dude can't hit (or take a walk) either.
  16. At least it's not Paul Maholm bobblehead night. I guess the real lesson is that if you are at this game, even the Cubs assume your Twitter feed is more interesting.
  17. Haha, tweet from the Cubs: @Cubs: Anyone at the game ready for a seat upgrade? First person to reply with their seat location gets up to 4 Field Box seats behind home plate. Everyone who showed up should get upgraded.
  18. [expletive] this fuckin [expletive] sucks.
  19. That guy who threw that ball back should get a tryout.
  20. Haha and then A-Ram has to rub it in.
  21. Jesus. It's one thing to not be a very talented team. But not being smart enough to realize it...
  22. Yeah I agree with that. Though I didn't hate the Blues like I do the Canucks. Maybe I was just too young and didn't hate Brett because his name was Hull.
  23. Danielle didn't practice today and is unlikely to play tomorrow night. Not looking past anyone, but a second-round matchup with VAN might be a bigger "bloodbath" than PIT-PHI.
  24. Some playoffs games are being aired on CNBC... I thought CNBC was pretty standard for cable lineups.
