He's certainly not a Beane-player. My guess is San Diego. He may not be a "Beane-player," but he actually wouldn't be a bad pickup for the A's for the remainder of the season. He can hit the ball, he can play 1B and 3B, and his salary isn't overly expensive. Chavez has been plagued by forearm injuries this year, and Johnson is going through a sophomore slump. It wouldn't be a bad move for Oakland. I'm unclear about this-- does this mean they have a week to trade him and then release him, or is this an irrevocable waiver/release scenario? Because if it is, and the Cubs via their horrific record have close to first dibs on the guy (the team with the worst record in the other league has first dibs, and then 2nd worst) we should definitely nab him, if for no other reason than to trade him at the deadline. Also makes A-Ram expendeble at the deadline, and despite what Hendry keeps saying, I really believe-- nay, hope that no one is safe. I've always liked this guy's bat.
