  1. Think this is something Hendry is working on, seeing as the Angels need to replace Morales?
  2. Obviously, the 'between the lines' on this is that Milton Bradley went unclaimed...!
  3. You want me to waste your time posting "Nuh-Uh! I totally heard it?" Dude, someone else posted hearing it too. I wrote what I heard. Sorry to "waste" your time. Yea, while it still obviously may not be accurate, it WAS on the radio, on two stations at least. May not be enough for someone who's probably ready to go claiming a Grassy Knoll theory...

  5. Just heard this coming through on the radio. Unconfirmed.
  6. You answered your own ? there imo Well, this whole section of the msg board ought to have a flying pig next to it!
  7. Since we all know we're (seemingly) stuck with our OF, for better or worse, maybe Hendry can swing a trade and get us an everyday 2B so we can get rid of the black hole in our lineup there? How do you guys feel about an O-Cab trade, since he's on the block, Hendry has had good luck pawning our crap onto Beane, and maybe he (or Theriot) can play 2B? He's got a great arm, great glove, and has been killing the ball for Oakland over the past month... It just doesn't seem like we have what the Pirates want for Sanchez, who would be my first choice... Thoughts? :pig:
  8. Not being old enough to have experience Brickhouse first-hand, I so enjoyed Len Kasper's throw-back 'HEY HEY WHEEEE!' call from the Braves game two weeks ago. Anyone else think we should start a petition asking Kasper to keep the call, for home games, for the rest of the year?
  9. c/o chicagotribune: Former Cub Mark Prior returned to San Diego to have his shoulder examined after having more problems in extended spring training. The Padres had hoped he would be pitching in minor-league games by now, but he has not appeared in any.
  10. ...pitching like this, who do we have waiting on the farm to take a spot? (Forget what we'd do with the stiffs in there right now...) Gallagher? Veal? Samardzjia? Is anyone down there making a case for prime time?
  11. Is anyone else trying to watch this game on MLB.TV and having trouble? It worked fine for me on Opening Day, and now every time I try and load it says "Buffering..." then "Waiting." then "Ready." Black Screen... Anyone?
  12. To split time with Pie? Is there any possible way a Lofton signing doesn't make this team at least marginally better?
  13. Does anyone know if any of the Cubs Convention will be aired on CSN Chicago, WGN Radio, or... somewhere?
  14. As it stands now.... SP Carlos Zambrano SP Ted Lilly SP Rich Hill SP Jason Marquis SP Ryan Dempster This scares me. I certainly hope Hendry is doing all he can to move Marquis and Dempster. Barring a trade, who do you guys think is the best in-house candidate to take one of those starting jobs? My vote would be Kevin Hart...
  15. The deal is Murton, Gallagher, E-Patt. At least that's the reported deal. Bedard isn't coming to the Cubs. They simply don't have enough. The insiders are reporting that the Reds have upped their offer on Bedard, although they don't know what the exact offer is. You know, seems a bit steep, but I suppose that we may not have roles for these guys anyway, so why not..
  16. Do these insiders know if this is just Roberts or, gasp, possibly Bedard + Roberts? ANY clue about who we're giving up? I'm guessing E-Patt and Veal are in there somewhere...
  17. For anyone interested in reading the thing: http://files.mlb.com/mitchrpt.pdf The players don't start getting named til around page 200, and you can go from there. FWIW, no mention of Mark Prior or Kerry Wood..
  18. From the report: Brian Roberts Brian Roberts is an infielder who has played for the Baltimore Orioles since 2001. He has been selected to two All-Star teams. Roberts and Larry Bigbie were both rookies in 2001. According to Bigbie, both he and Roberts lived in Segui’s house in the Baltimore area during the latter part of that season. When Bigbie and Segui used steroids in the house, Roberts did not participate. According to Bigbie, however, in 2004 Roberts admitted to him that he had injected himself once or twice with steroids in 2003. Until this admission, Bigbie had never suspected Roberts of using steroids. In order to provide Roberts with information about these allegations and to give him an opportunity to respond, I asked him to meet with me; he declined.
  19. Thanks for chatting with us, Bruce! Also seems like the Cubs and Prior are headed for a divorce... Is this a forgone conclusion and Hendry is hoping to get something halfway decent for him? Or is there still a chance Prior will be a Cub if Hendry doesn't get an attractive offer?
  20. Per MLBTRADERUMORS: UPDATE, 12-4-07 at 3:10pm: Nick Cafardo notes that Cubs GM Jim Hendry and Andy MacPhail had lunch today, which leads him to believe they may have discussed Bedard. A bit of a stretch since Hendry and MacPhail used to work together. Then again the Cubs did pursue in a Mark Prior/Miguel Tejada deal a few years back. The Cubs would represent the 11th team in on Bedard. I don't buy it.
  21. Anyone know why there's been no word on Wood's seemingly imminent re-signing?
  22. Amidst all this A-Rod talk, there's one thing that has yet to be clarified - Can the Cubs spend ANY money at all this off-season with ownership in total flux?
