I just like that it looks he's going to strut down the baseline using the bat like a cane before he flicks it away. That would be the most baller [expletive] ever. For all of the crap Sammy got for his hop, he didn't really have a good flip. Makes me a little sad.

Punching AJ alphabet went a really long way toward endearing him to me. That, and we had no idea how bad he really was at defense at that point. Hey, defense shmefense. Fangraphs has his WAR at 2.3, 2.9 and 2.3 in his 3 full years with the Cubs and BR has him at 1.5, 2.0 and 2.3. Ain't no shame in liking Barrett.

For some reason the one home run I remember just absolutely losing my mind over was when Barrett hit the grand slam very early in the 2004 season against the Cardinals. I was visiting my folks for my mom's birthday and my dad and I just went completely bonkers when this happened:

That's what I was imagining before the season. I love Soler, but I don't think he's going to be any different of a player than he was 30 days ago. I don't imagine he's improved one bit while injured, as it's difficult to get better while not playing. There is a sense of excitement for his return. But Denoforia was actually pretty solid and unless Soler is going to start hitting for more power, not sure there will be much of a difference for a struggling offense. Yeah, both he and Baxter were productive last month and their offensive numbers ultimately came out pretty close to what Soler was doing in May.

Yes, WSR, Jackson has been SO bad that the odds of him having any kind of sustained run of success as a starter where the Cubs could possibly get anything of value for him are practically nil.

Look, it's not that I don't love a 7-2 game...but outside of the first two innings and, really, one guy, the offense really managed to suck some serious butt for the rest of it.

Coghlan has become this OBP machine while Fowler has just become some kind of meat puppet who can sometimes slug his way out of the pit. SWITCH THESE TWO.
