I was all set to rant, but Denofria isn't sucking so far in August like he did in July, so whatever. Plus part of it is the frustration that the Cubs really only have one everyday HR threat in their lineup right now when they should have 3-4 that would make such tomfoolery redundant.

i think it's just that Maddon/advanced scouting identified lefties as a problem area for those starters we've faced and stacked all the LH hitters atop the order to exploit that Sure, and I'd get him batting 2nd or leading off, but putting him between Schwarber and Rizzo just seems weird, especially when he's inevitably pulled for a defensive replacement. Well once he gets pulled, he probably is replaced by Denorfia, at which point at least the other team has the LRL problem when playing matchups Meh.

Plus sending a guy barreling around 3B to try and score when you're up 5-2 still seems like a recipe for unnecessarily upping the injury risk to your best hitter. If they're down or tied, alright, but 5-2? How is this not just the hindsight talking?
