FFS, Haren already out after 5 innings?
  2. Sammy Sofa
Nationals already up 4-0 on the Cardinals. Pirates down 5-0. WIN THIS DAMN GAME. Do it for me.
  3. Sammy Sofa
Bryant is going to singlehandedly get this [expletive] done.

    *SIGH*

    Good, goooooood.

You wanted the coaching staff to make him take an 0-1 pitch....in an effort to strike out less? Yes? Like he said, that particular 0-1 pitch; it was pretty likely he was going to try to go outside. It's not like he's saying that should have him lay off all 0-1 pitches.

They're just doing this to make Baez feel at home. It's actually very thoughtful.

6 whole posts. One said "bah," the other (clearly tongue in cheek) called him a bum; one sarcastically said he fit in because, hey, this team, strikes out a LOT, another bemoaned him swinging at a terrible pitch, one talked about wanting to give him more PA's before judging and the other glad he got the count to 2-3 instead of just doing nothing but hacking. OH MY GOD, SO MUCH FREAKING OUT. Nobody actually said he was toast or hopeless or anything. We thrive on sarcasm here; one would think it would be more readily recognized by regulars.

    Nobody freaked out, you goon.

    Bah.

Redemption time, Baez. David insists you weren't demoted, but well know it's true, because you were catastrophically bad. Now...UNLEASH.

Good job, fartbag. NOW GIMME THOSE DONGS.

I also want to time travel to the playoffs to not have to witness Schwarber's adjustment period.

.393/.577/.711/1.288 since the ASB, good Lord. It moved.

This team is run by smart people. What did they possibly see in Haren.
  18. Sammy Sofa
Who would they replace him with? I thought maybe they'd put Baez in his spot on the roster C: Schwarb/Montero/Ross IF: Rizzo/Baez/Russell/Bryant/La Stella/Coghlan OF: Soler/Fowler/Jackson/Szczur I guess they'd keep him over Herrera though if they went with 11 pitchers. Either he or Baez is going to be the starting 2B. The odd man out will be La Stella or Herrera.

I'm expecting them to go in and annihilate and if they lose, hey, at least it's a team set up to come back. Famous last words, sure, but it feels like forever since there's been a Chicago sports crowd just losing their [expletive] mind over a playoff game. Have some fun, you miserable lumps.
  20. Sammy Sofa
The fans are going to be in panic mode before the game even begins. Chicago crowds are terrified, cowardly scum.

I'm not giving up on the Pirates, either; just the idea that the playoffs are going to start for the Cubs with anything besides a WC game. So, yes, catching them would be moderately exciting, but mostly I'm just [expletive] ready to GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
  23. Sammy Sofa
Yeah, between Coghlan and Jackson (and hell, maybe Baez) he's pretty redundant. No need to push him to perform coming off of that injury.
  24. Sammy Sofa
Why weren't you excited in the first place Did you not read the first page of this thread? We were discussing how we wished we could just fast forward to the playoffs, since we are now resigned to being the second wild card. Nothing is more exciting for ARCubsFan than lustfully leering at the Cardinals' division lead multiple times a day.

    Castro

Sammy Sofa replied to Tim's topic in Chicago Cubs Talk

Castro has actually been getting regular playing time because of injuries. He's started 7 out of 8 games since Soler went down. I agree with you that the initial theory didn't seem to make sense, and I'm glad it was cleared up quickly. Huh; I thought he was basically playing every other game. Felt like I was seeing LaStella more than I probably actually was; he haunts me that way. Thanks for the correction.
