  1. Schwarber has been King Baseball Gonna Baseball for multiple seasons now despite multiple cases of "figuring it out," so I dunno why the idea of, "I'll believe he's finally figured it out for real THIS time when it actually happens," is so bonkers. The dude's track record of being super inconsistent is a lot longer than his last 198 PA. Odds are he ends up being the 2-3 fWAR guy SOMEHOW yet again, which is fine. If he's actually clicked, hey, even better, obviously. But it ain't dunking time yet.
  2. Even though he's still alive, Jim Hendry is looking down on all of this and laughing.
  3. perhaps more importantly, his K rate dropped from 28.3%, to 21.8% in the 2nd half; to me that signals development for comparison, his 2017 strong 2nd half was coupled with 191 K pace, and a 169 K pace for his 2018 1st half so he never before really coupled good contact ability with slugging/production Hey, it would be cool if it finally worked out. Each time he's done something we all thought he'd finally figured out....and then he didn't.
  4. I refuse to accept that much heavy blinking between him and Bryant on the same team.
  5. I'd prefer it never be even remotely close to requiring the Braves to walk it off. Plus a primo home run trot in the middle of a drubbing would burn his ass so, so much more.
  6. So having two of them would be a good thing?
  7. He's so smart he made his binders out of iPads.
  8. COUNTERPOINT: ARRIETA COUNTERCOUNTERPOINT: EVERYTHING ELSE. And besides, Jake or the "next Cole" are the guys an org like this is supposed to have the pieces/smarts to go and get AND they flex and land the big monsters like Cole.
  9. It was because of his bizarre all cheese/no fiber diet.
  10. Well the numbers have gotten better each year so if that trend continues it won't really matter. He basically ends up being the same dude value-wise unless he gets the inexplicably 2018 defensive bounce from Fangraphs again. I'm not saying he's terrible, but we've done this dance three seasons in a row now, and he probably just is what is he is at this point. He's a useful player for the Cubs, but I seriously doubt there are any teams looking at him as someone they'd want to give up a serious return to acquire. Very streaky 2-3 WAR players whose defensive value wildly fluctuates at best aren't exactly a hot commodity.
  11. Who did he turn down besides the Reds? Zero chance a Name Manager takes a big pay cut. That would make it that much easier for him to get bounced again, and there's no way he's settling for that.
  12. Being resoundingly mediocre or ass for half of the season and then pretty good or even awesome the other half is basically the patented Kyle Schwarber Specialty at this point. 2017: .178 .300 .394 .694 .253 .335 .559 .894 2018: .249 .375 .498 .873 .221 .323 .417 .740 Which order will he do it in THIS time?
  13. You know this inevitably going to loop back to the "trade nobody" dumbassery as before.
  14. No one outside of Baez and Bryant is going to bring anyone back that is all that great. Disagree on Contreras, even with his flaws as a catcher he's still an obviously valuable commodity. Schwarber is just a mutant who basically requires 463 different moving parts and the right seasons of the moon to align to be awesome sometimes.
  15. Cole is going to be Beast Mode wherever he goes, and whatever "next Cole" that Cubs try to pull out of their ass will have their shoulder explode into a Bloomin' Onion mid-game. YOU KNOW THAT'S HOW THIS WILL GO.
  16. There's no reason that drill sergeant jackoff wannabe would come cheap. Cubs fans should riot if they stupidly shell out for a pricey manager for ANY horsefeathering reason. He should be automatically disqualified for that alone.
  17. I feel like most of the people who pick Schwarber WANT him to be the one most likely traded, when really he has very little value on his own to bring back anyone that great,

  19. The Astros winning another WS is also acceptable since it will ideally light a fire under Theo's dumb nerd butt.
  20. Come to the Abandon the Bears Side, my son...it is the only way...
  21. Boooooooooooooooo. I wanna see the Nats, A's or Rays do some cool stuff. Everyone else can go fart in a tent.
  22. I mean they started building the WS winner some 4-5 years before it happened, they all mostly arrived together towards the end, and that worked out fine. This time the media's not walking us through it and telling us it will be special and awesome when everyone arrives, but things went about as well as they could have this year below the ML team and it's one primed to make leaps over the next year probably two for a SP Dude, come on; there was definitely some prolonged stumbling. It wasn't simply a matter of they emptied out the farm via promotions and trades.
  23. Meh; he won't be here long.
  24. Huh; I guess developing absolutely no pitching and minimal offensive assets is one way to look at as being "setting up a new window."
  25. "Less individualism?" 1: Gross. That's some of the creepiest bootlicker horsefeathers right out of the worst corporate motivational retreat seminar book. 2. That pretty much means not hiring someone like Ross, or really any other "name" as a manger. A nobody it shall be!
