    It probably would be, for career purposes. If he can play more frequently on a lesser team he will have a better chance of making enough money to live off the rest of his life. A career backup isn't going to make bank. That presumes anyone is going to sign him to be a starter instead of realizing that a pretty obvious reason for his success is his selective playing time as a backup mostly against RH pitchers.
