  2. It probably would be, for career purposes. If he can play more frequently on a lesser team he will have a better chance of making enough money to live off the rest of his life. A career backup isn't going to make bank. That presumes anyone is going to sign him to be a starter instead of realizing that a pretty obvious reason for his success is his selective playing time as a backup mostly against RH pitchers.
  3. Yeah, but they didn't do anything unusual; it was a matter of who had options and who didn't. If he can't handle that, he can go suck on a sardine. it is somewhat unusual to send down a useful player to make room for a useless piece of trash. Nah. He's being an idiot.
  4. Sonny Chiba mess you up. Thank Christ this is an earlier game.
  5. Yeah, but they didn't do anything unusual; it was a matter of who had options and who didn't. If he can't handle that, he can go suck on a sardine.
  6. Why does the A's pitcher have a last name that sounds like some mook Patriots fan's nickname?
  7. Jake Smolinski sounds like something the Rock almost went with before he settled on "jabroni."
  8. I love how that keeps happening at this stupid stadium. JUST SHOW US THE DONGS ALREADY.
  9. This might be my new favorite thread. La Stella has completely justified his existence.

  11. IMO, he's been slipping for a while now.
  12. Man, I miss slugging Bryant. This hump seems like the kind of sucker to get him going again.
  13. I've never heard of a game starting at 11pm ET The MLB TV listing on Verizon has the block for this game starting at 11 for some reason.
  14. I think it's 3 homeless guys banging on things since they have nothing better to do with the space It's the A's version of Roast running around banging pots and pans to scare off the possums.
  15. I thought this dumb game wasn't on until 11 EST. Stupid west coast.
  16. I remember a LOT of meatballs thinking that was fantastic when the Cubs dumped Sosa for him.
  17. Look, I know he's distractingly handsome, but come on.
  18. Yeah, I was super excited about signing Bradley and thought between San Diego and Texas he had figured something out. Obviously didn't know he was such a complete scumbag instead of "just" a baseball psycho, but I was REALLY enthusiastic about the 2009 offense going in to the season. Fukudome was coming in to his second season and I really was expecting him to put it together; he ended up having his best season, but I was big on him become that vaunted Ichiro/Matsui middleground that everyone kept talking about. Soriano was theoretically still the Soriano who had kicked ass in 2007 and 2008. Soto had just been the RoY, and the heart of the lineup being Lee, Aramis, Bradley and him just sounded fantastic on paper. Hell, the starting pitching didn't even look all that bad, and the starters did pretty well outside of Harden not being the stud we hoped he could be. Then Soriano got hurt again and was terrible, Aramis missed a bunch of time, Bradley was a turd and Soto had a rough sophomore slump. The ended up basically winning what they were supposed to, pythag-wise, but I was really thinking they'd win at least 90 games.
  19. Well, yeah, THOSE turds are never happy.
  20. That's still a pretty [expletive] big divisional lead. Sure, though it had been 12.5 just a month before, and the Cubs went through a pretty prolonged bout of average baseball while the Cardinals seemed to be finally playing to what was expected of them at the right time. Personally, I didn't think the Cubs were ever going to actually give up the lead, but I was worried that the Cardinals could get close enough that it prevent the Cubs from, say, giving players extra rest and playing the September callups less than I would prefer, and just generally making things more stressful than we wanted or expected it to be.
  21. Why would this be the thread that you decided to bump for this question... :-k He's a Mac person, gawd demmit.
  22. MY GOD, THEY'RE EVERYWHERE. I can't imagine being so paranoid to the point that the very sadly obvious equation of young men + booze + bodies of water = often leads to death just seems impossible and it must be some batting 1.000-group of serial killers drowning young men around the world.
  23. Don't Macs have firewalls, too? It's really easy to enable firewalls to allow programs and sites; as pointed out, just Google the model of modem and something like "allowing website through firewall" and it will walk you through the very easy step by step instructions, you fat baby.
