  1. horsefeathers THIS [expletive] horsefeathers PARK FROM HELL'S horsefeathering horsefeathers.
  2. I'm ready for different bad. Joe Girardi
  3. Only had to score 2 more horsefeathering runs against the Reds. Just 2 runs.
  4. I’m pretty over joe too For as annoying and bad as he has been and can be, I think it’s far more likely we find a worse guy than him than anyone better I'm ready for different bad.
  5. I’m pretty over joe too Hey, I'm FJM from way back, but I don't think there's a chance in hell for him to get the boot.
  6. Jesus Christ; look at some of the scores out there today. It seems bonkers to think of this team doing something like that these days.
  7. Someone explain ball one to Escobar to me.
  8. I know it's meatball-y as hell, but, [expletive], I do not want to see Chili Davis anywhere near this team next season.
  9. we do? For one more year, sort of, whenever Zobrist isn't old.
  10. It's pretty much pick your poison between him and Murphy right now, unfortunately. Why not Javy to SS, Zobrist at 2B and Happ in the OF? Defense gets a bit worse and Happ has been struggling mostly but Happ actually does something occasionally as a batter Eh, given Happ's numbers against lefties, it's like picking between horsefeathers, shittier and shittiest. It's a lame situation.
  11. It's pretty much pick your poison between him and Murphy right now, unfortunately.
  12. NOT SO FUN FACTS: The Cubs...as a team...have hit 10 dongs in the month of September. Out of those 15 games, 8 of them have been dongless. And now they get to go to Arizona, where dongs go to die.
  13. In summation: Addison Russell has a lot of problems.
  14. if you want to actually split the season up in halves, they were only 11 over at 46-35. they're 14 over at 41-27 since
  15. thats an odd take. I'm actually watching every game lately, and with far more interest then at the beginning of the year. Its going down to the wire and making for great entertainment. If we lose the division, how hard do we press for Harper? If we win it, how far do we go? I don't think it's that odd; if someone only watches a handful of games for months, they're not going to be subjecting themselves to just how bad this team looks, even when they're winning. I mean, yeah, I do think it's generally weird to only have watched a half dozen Cubs games since the ASB, but I get why someone like that would be less frustrated over how they've been playing in that time.
  16. I think it's a symptom of raised expectations and having finally won it and knowing what it takes to do so. Definitely. DEFINITELY.
  17. It wasn't a shot at Baez; it was agreeing with the general idea that a hitter going bugfuck crazy often drives a team to surge even if most of the players around him have been pretty underwhelming. Baez has been fine (at the very least) this month, but I also think him hitting in that time with an OPS that's almost a good 100 points less than what he's been swinging most of the rest of the season has, unfortunately, exposed how relatively precariously most of the rest of the Cubs' offense has been clinging to what he had been doing for a while now. I think the last couple of weeks have been pretty telling: the Cubs as a whole have looked like butt in that time, but in his last week's worth of games Baez has had a .984 OPS and, likely not just coincidentally, the Cubs have managed to actually win and gain some ground in that time. His last two weeks his total OPS is .661, and that's when they were struggling even more and losing ground. I don't think it's a stretch to say this team is largely living and dying with how Baez goes right now. And we're also actually selling short how much Carptenter has fallen off. Forget that he's had a .772 OPS in the last 19 games; in September so far (14 games), he's had a truly miserable .559 OPS.
  18. See also: the 2018 Cubs and Javier Baez.
  19. So far Duke has at least won the first game each time he's had to start a game thread this season. I dunno; I just need something at this point.
  20. Well, outside of people not wanting to give up on him yet at that point, it was also the double whammy of selling relatively low on him after a shitty season. They were kinda stuck with him at that point in terms of hoping he'd bounce back.
