  1. Not to speak for everyone, but isn't it safe to say Hill was fulfilling pretty much all of those statements during his initial run of MLB starts between 2005 and 2006? It's not like the negative sentiments about him came from out of nowhere. For pretty much every player you're going to find people on both sides of the opinion as to whether or not that player will find success in the bigs. Hell, Zambrano had his detractors. It happens. People can be wrong. What's the point in singling out those who didn't share your opinion and then willfully rubbing their faces in it, even if they've repeatedly expressed that they were wrong? I'm sorry, but that's a line of thought that bugs the hell out of me.
  2. Wow, what an at-bat by The Riot! 10 pitches, fouls off 5 of them, finally walks with Jacque on 3rd with 1 out. Sadly, Cedeno is up. Ronny...PLEASE! Do it for the children!
  3. Theriot in to bat after Blanco grounds out, Jones to 3rd.
  4. Jacque singles...steals 2nd with Blanco batting, no outs.
  5. LEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Derrek solo homers to left-center off of Benitez!
  6. Would you feel different if he continues this tear until the end of the year? Again, Cedeno. Unlike, say, Murton, Theriot's history up until this point likely dictates he will not be this kind of player longterm. That's not say he couldn't, which is why I'd like him as the main middle IF backup, but history indicates it would be probably only slightly less foolish going into next year with Theriot at 2nd than if you did with Cedeno.
  7. Our middle infield is like some kind of fever dream nightmare.
  8. So the Cubs can score 6 runs in each game 5 games in a row and lose 4 of those games...but they can't do it when it actually would come in handy and win them something. Great.
  9. "Go, Billy Elliot! GO!!!"
  10. And people said that David Eckstein shouldn't play sports because he was so small, or not toolsy enough, blah, blah. If Theriot can play, like him play. You never know what Theriot can do, unless you give him the opportunity to play. So, yes, I like to see him be seriously considered to start in 2007. On the flipside of that thinking, that's pretty much how we got saddled with Cedeno.
  11. I didn't know "it looks like" or "it appears" or "I think" or "maybe" or "probably"" etc., etc. ad nauseum were the indicators of definitive statements. There were a whole lot of definitive statements about Hill being made. I'm not about to search and find who said them, I'm just saying they were made, and there were many of them. In that case, I was speaking for myself. I was specifically quoted as someone who needed to be singled out for my comments on Hill, and I don't appreciate the nature of those posts.
  12. I didn't know "it looks like" or "it appears" or "I think" or "maybe" or "probably"" etc., etc. ad nauseum were the indicators of definitive statements. It's not like he was only "kinda bad." He couldn't have been in more of a steep contrast with his minor league numbers with his MLB performances the start of this year and the end of last year. Sample size, sure, but he was appalling. People let their passionate fandom get the better of them all the time, especially when someone is repeatedly THAT bad. Now he's gotten a lot better and the naysayers have copped to hopefully being wrong. Where's the problem?
  13. Given up homers to Barry Bonds, Durham (this year) and Alou is hardly a rare thing, so I agree.
  14. Bonds walked. Marshall trying real hard to keep his pitches low against him.
  15. Bonds-time again, once more with 2 outs and nobody on.
  16. Guess that kinda answers my question about Barrett if he's coming out for Blanco. Maybe we'll see some Soto-time in the next few days?
  17. Hey, all I had to do was ask nicely! Thanks, Cedeno!
  18. Wow, Barrett is slumpin' hard these past few games. Anyone think he might still be hurt?
