  1. Lee's 2 for 2 with an RBI and a stolen base, which is nice. It's like 2 Mateo's out there tonight...I'd prefer the one with 7 k's and no walks so far tonight over the one with 5 ER's, please.
  2. Oh, Theriot just tripled, sorta making up for the horrific bunt pop-out he had in the 1st.
  3. Empty seats, low ratings...in a perfect world, the Tribune either cleans house and gets management that'll try and get something done or they opt to sell the team. My bet is we get the same ol'-same ol' with a much lower payroll.
  4. That doesn't explain anything. What did he do or not do in those last two weeks that he did or didn't do the rest of the season and they still win 89 games?
  5. But that was a team that should have won 95 games. And in fairness to Jim, we didn't know Wood and Prior were walking disasters yet going into 2004. Agreed, but it's not like those two alone are the reason for the 2004 collapse. You look at the team the Cubs had on paper at the end there and it still boggles my mind they didn't win up to 95 games. Everything just fell apart those last two weeks, and I'm still not even sure why.
  6. Some managers are crappier than others.
  7. Every day with Dusty is silent and grey. Oh, damn, wrong Morrissey.
  8. Er... I blame this whole mess on the Cubs being so bad.
  9. I'd say going for the obvious joke would be childish, but then again, we all saw how Neifi couldn't keep his hands off of himself down yonder. My God, did we see it...
  10. I know a few people have mentioned this idea, and when Wuertz is on, it seems like a great idea...his stuff can be positively filthy and damn near unhittable. That said, however, could he put up consecutive quality appearances on a regular basis? I'd be curious to see if anyone has his stats when he appears two games in a row, but I swear he always has trouble when makes two appearances within two games. Has anyone else noticed this?
  11. Quite possibly.
  12. I still can't wrap my head around this. It's basically saying "don't have the wrong opinion, because people are going to make you pay." it does seem as though you're having trouble wrapping your head around this because that's not what i'm saying at all. Or else?
  13. Alright! I can update my sig pic!
  14. I flunked that class.
  15. I still can't wrap my head around this. It's basically saying "don't have the wrong opinion, because people are going to make you pay." Again, by this logic there are still people who should be harassed every time Zambrano has a quality start. Where does it end?
  16. Though as long as they don't tank, both Howry and Eyre could fetch some decent players in smart trades if needed. Dempster, too, if he can pick it back up and get back on a more consistent schedule.
  17. And people said that David Eckstein shouldn't play sports because he was so small, or not toolsy enough, blah, blah. If Theriot can play, like him play. You never know what Theriot can do, unless you give him the opportunity to play. So, yes, I like to see him be seriously considered to start in 2007. On the flipside of that thinking, that's pretty much how we got saddled with Cedeno. And Murton. Which I already alluded to. Murton doesn't have the extnded craptacular history that Cedeno does, so his success isn't really as "out of the blue" as Ronny's was.
  18. And people said that David Eckstein shouldn't play sports because he was so small, or not toolsy enough, blah, blah. If Theriot can play, like him play. On the flipside of that thinking, that's pretty much how we got saddled with Cedeno. Your quotes can come back to haunt you. Cedeno needs a good hitting coach. When he was with Joshua he didn't hit like this. Moreover, he's been moved from SS to 2nd, then sat a number of games, then played at 2nd, then moved back to SS. Not smart moves by the Cubs with a rookie who has been struggling at the plate. But then again, they are the Cubs. More moreover, in Winter ball last year he didn't play an inning at 2nd even though the Cubs were supposedly hot and heavy after Furcal. Again, not a smart move by the Cubs, but then again they are the Cubs. BTW: Cedeno was rookie of the year in his league in Winter ball. Ronnie has hit very poorly and has showed very little plate discipline. He's never had much, but at least he use to be able to pick a pitch to hit. This is all true. Of course, even Izturis had a stretch where he was one of the best hitters in the NL.
  19. OK, that's just ridiculous. I'm sorry he had to hear that.
  20. I guess he is planning on getting a head start on his 2007 season ending injury. Haha. But really, I HATE that he has to be injured like this. I remember when he was amazing. Too bad he has to be a reliever now. :( He could still be an amazing reliever/closer.
  21. They were piling on abuck. It was pretty bad. Well, if I'm lumped into that and/or anything I said down the line was taken that way, I do sincerely apologize. I was venting my frustration about Hill and I didn't think any of it would be taken personally by anyone.
  22. Personally, I always thought it was a control issue and I didn't think he was going to be able to consistently lock it down against MLB-level hitters as a starter and thought he might be a better option as a lefty specialist coming out of the pen.
  23. So people specifically quoted posts of his to try and and somehow spin what he said in a negative and, quie frankly, insulting light as opposed to simply just disagreeing with his opinion of Hill? The "told you so" sentiment as some are gleefully piling on here is just ugly, negative and pointless. Again, I'm sorry, but I find it insulting. It's not like people were piling on abuck...they were piling on Rich Hill and disagreeing with abuck's opinion about Hill. Transferring the angry and often times ridiculous things I and others said about Hill onto him doesn't somehow make the "told you so's" OK.
