Then you would be creating another hole on the team. Not if they're determined to pick up at least 2 other starting pitchers. It all hinges on what else Hendry can get done. And Sanchez seems pretty good. That deal doesnt make sense. You dont trade a staff ace. Their determined to pick up at least 2 other starting pitchers? Who are these guys that are better than Zambrano? Why do they need to be better or even as good as Zambrano? Shell out for Zito or Schmidt or the other Japanese pitcher posting, another pitcher along the lines of Padilla (with less insane self-represented demands)...ideally 3 new hurlers but 2 if all that can be had. Combine those signings with Miller, Prior, Hill and Sanchez and just kind of hope for the best. Yeah, it's not ideal and there's definitely risks involved, but it does net you ARod and Sanchez doesn't seem to be a slouch, far from it. Like I said, I don't know if it's anything even close to being a smart deal. I can just see a potential upside to it. There's been talk of Zambrano having the potential for real health problems down the line, so selling high wouldn't have to be the end of the world and could actually be smart if done right.
