  1. I think Rex needs to out and out tank like he did against the Cardinals 2-3 more times before they bench him. Somebody mentioned that Rex will lose you games...but he will also win them for you. Griese is OK, but he's a bandage at best intended for use if Grossman gets hurt...if he's in, the running game needs to explode and the defense needs to start scoring all the time. It won't be as ridiculous as it was with Orton, but it would definitely limit the Bears. Grossman, faults and all, opens up and expands this team. You bench him ONLY if he shows himself to be a complete disaster, and this latest game was nowhere near being that.
  2. Bingo. Let's see how they look next week before pushing the panic button. They did a nice job coming back after the Miami loss. Did we really expect them to go undefeated; to sweep 3 straight East Coast roadies? Grossman has his issues; but let's wait and see. Agreed again. The Grossman haters will ride hard this week, but really, what can you accomplish by playing Greise? Greise was there as a BACKUP in case Grossman got hurt. Until that time I would be very disappointed with the coaching staff if they listened to the talk radio junk and benched Grossman. Grossman is the future, and he's showed a hell of a lot of promise in his first full year. We took down two tough New York teams, and lost to one of the best teams in the NFL, and a 3 time Superbowl QB. Their defense is stellar, and they were playing at home. I'm not saying there weren't things that went wrong, but I'm very far from the panic button. Preach it. Seconded He showed a lot of promise his first 5 weeks, and since then has mostly sucked Those 4th quarter stats they flashed tonight for him were kind of not good.
  3. The lack of the shotgun is driving me nuts. I don't want to live and die by it, but considering we've seen it only twice the whole freakin' year is ridiculous. Sure seemed to work alright for the Pats today. Mix it up!
  4. Agreed. I'm not going to be losing a lot of sleep on this. We played right with them the whole game...the refs, the coaching, and some sloppy play (from both teams) led to a loss. Same here. I wanted them to win it, but 2 out of 3 on a really tough roadtrip and then losing the last 1 by only 4 points against one of the best teams out there really isn't killing me. If they look the same next week back at home, THEN I'll worry.
  5. Manny is, at worst, as bad a fielder as Jones, and our overall defense (weren't the Cubs like 7th or better in the league?) was just fine with his shenanigans out there, and his bat is almost infinitely better.
  6. Personally, I don't think Zito is worth even that pitching at Wrigley. I'd much rather see them try and get Schmidt.
  7. Dude...your avatar...come ON.
  8. STOP TROLLING US WITH YOUR SCHTICKY PERSONAL WEBSITES, TROLLY MCTROLLALOT!
  9. I don't think anyone has been so head and shoulders ahead of the rest of their conference in a while like the Bears are this year. Maybe the Rams in 2001 but that's about it. As far as record? The Colts last year, the Eagles the year before that come to mind as teams who were so far ahead that they clinched the conference a month ahead of time. The Bears are enjoying a similar run this year, and it should be an easy run to HFA-my question to Bears fans is, do you want to rest starters or not? It's a very tough issue. Certainly play Benson more and get griese some snaps. Well I'm excited for this game! My argument about getting Griese excessive time is that Rex still needs the experience, especially going into the playoffs.
  10. Short of Pie suddenly becoming the next Pujols offensively, I see little problem with batting him low in the order. Not that I think he'll stink...I'm just of the mindset that it's better to bat the rookies lower where there's less pressure so they can hopefully adjust better to hitting in the bigs. Find their role elsewhere in the lineup after they've made that first step.
  11. *Praysprayspraysprays* *Lights a zillion candles* *Burns house down* *Prays even harder*
  12. Kaplan also quoted unnamed agents as saying that Hendry's presentation was the best he'd ever seen and that Hendry's rep among players (past and present) helped seal the deal. Lou was active in this recruiting process and also met with Soriano separately. Hendry says he'll be pursuing pitching. As I posted earlier, there's some speculation that they wanted to sign Soriano early to boost credibility and improve there chances with potential FAs, such as Schmidt. Wow, if this is true, who is this man and what the hell has he done with Jim Hendry?
  13. If Willis is being spun off for ARod? It would be awesome. If it would be to play for the Cubs? Not worth what he would cost. Willis is far more valuable for what he can get you with his name than with his actual pitching.
  14. With the possibility of it happening? 2004. The REALITY? That's a different question...
  15. QFT Agreed. If Hendry got that, he's having a hell of an off-season, DeRosa included.
  16. Thank God for Wale's nuts. Er...uh....yeah. GO BEARS!!!
  17. No bet.
  18. I know it's the stupid Cubs fan in me and that I'm pretty drunk over the Bears game, but damn, would it be awesome if Prior came back next year even just close to his peak form. I miss kickass Prior. A healthy Prior, Hill continues "getting it," Z being Z, Miller being even somewhat healthy, trading for someone like Westbrook, the kids backing it up, Kerry Wood: Super Closer...ahhhh, dreams are sweet. If only, if only...
  19. SORINAO HAS TO HIT LEADOFF. I'm sorry for the shouting, but this is something that really nobody can be unsure about. I definitely wanted him deeper in the lineup and was baffled as to why Washington was keeping at #1...until I looked at his career numbers. I guess it's a mental thing, but the guy produces when he's hitting leadoff. When he's not, he's not, period. He HAS to hit leadoff for the Cubs if you want him to be anything offensively worth his salary.
  20. I don't think it's enough. There's still only 2 legit power threats in Lee & Ram in the middle of the order. I agree with the pitching that seems to be shaping up (or lack thereof), this lineup wouldn't seem to be able to lift us to many victories----though it is better than last year. Side note: I've always thought Barrett would shine best in the 2 hole rather than lower in the order. I agree 110% about Barrett. Bat him #2 and when he sits slit Murton in there.
