  1. Well, yeah; the problem is more the pile up of lingering injuries and guys slumping/under-performing. A normal 2018 Cubs team isn't struggling to put a lineup out there every day that isn't half black holes, making it harder to get guys more time off regardless of whether they lost days off. Having 2-3 more off days at the end likely wouldn't have made that much of a difference. It would’ve helped the bullpen a lot and probably at least one of the position guys (maybe Schwarber and Heyward don’t get hurt, Javy certainly seems like he could use a day, etc) and with some extra off days we probably could’ve gotten an extra Kyle start or two and moved Monty to the pen. Could’ve been enough to snake out an extra win or 2 and that’s all we needed. Yes, in terms of squeaking out the division, sure. In terms of helping out the biggest problem by far in the stank second half offense? Probably not.
  2. Meh; so long as it's not the Cardinals doing it, I'm good. If the Cubs wanna figure out how to make fat scrap heap guys work, I'm all for it.
  3. But Max Muncy is such a great baseball name. Why am I hating him besides, "it's annoying he plays on another team that my team rarely plays?"
  4. They're all the same guy, minus the one that played guitar for Dr. Teeth.
  5. The one that bugs me the most is all the whining about the schedule. i think there's a legitimate problem however, in the long run, for the cubs having so many early season games canceled because of weather and playing them all at the end of the season. this also applies to all teams in cold weather areas without domes Well, yeah; the problem is more the pile up of lingering injuries and guys slumping/under-performing. 6. I just took a quick look at BR's top 12 Dodgers, and it's mostly a parade of forgettable, interchangeable dudes, with cool guys like Puig and Kershaw and Machado mixed in, plus Gritty. I just can't muster the effort to hate such a generic team.
  7. Hey, then the Cubs need to figure out how to make their own Botes last more than 2 weeks.
  8. you absolute madman I WANTED to hate them. But they didn't and don't have nearly enough hatable players for my liking. They're either super forgettable or actually kinda cool dudes. Plus their parking lot is Jets vs. Sharks, except with real knives. Larry King's usually lurking in the front row like some kind of good luck ghoul...plus I'm never gonna fault a team for spending F.U. money.
  9. Astros are #3, because they're basically the cooler, sexier, (better) Mirror Universe version of the Cubs.
  10. The Indians don't deserve horsefeathers as long as they're rocking Wahoo officially. The whole loathing the Dodgers thing never clicked with me, plus I wanna see WS-celebrating Puig unleashed on the world, so they're my #2 after the A's.
  11. Yeah, I hate saying it, but I don't want this wreck of a team having anything more to do with the Brewers this season.
  12. Man, I really should pay more attention to how they change the rules for these WC games, apparently.
  13. Use Hamels like a mule and then blast him into the sun.
  14. Me watching the 2018 Cubs: http://pucksandrecreation.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mst3k-gif.gif
  15. Nah; I just had the Cubs playing Freeland all by himself.
  16. Hey everybody! The mighty CLERBS, they of the 95-win, almost best record in the NL season, have been reduced to playing the NL Wild Card game. There's really only one way to look at such a revoltin' development: It's days like this that really have someone thinking deep, deep thoughts about life and destiny... There's still some people here who think the CLERBS have a shot of not kicking themselves in the hinder. Well, if you're one of them... Though, hey, maybe there IS a chance that the Cubs win. Maybe I just need to think positive. But if Joe tries any of his bullpen bull horsefeathers tomorrow?!? http://66.media.tumblr.com/d4ac30aee12145f470ec549e38256c67/tumblr_o87f9exrmh1v1zngbo2_540.gif Maybe the Cubs do re-emerge and win handily, something that's as rare these days as... It just felt like after a clash of Midwest titans, things needed to be represented by the ultimate Midwest TV show. Go Cubs.
  17. You are the whiniest person I've ever met and you've been crying about the Cubs since last April. You deserve to never derive pleasure from sports again in your life.
  18. RUMOR HAS IT: the Cubs stink.
