  1. Dear God, don't let Reyes pet the rabbits.
  2. IF WE LET PRIOR AND WOOD GO, THE CUBS WILL STOP BEING SAD AND THEY'LL START WINNING!!! ALSO, IF I WISH HARD ENOUGH, I KNOW I CAN CRAP GOLD COINS!!! WHOOOOPEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
  3. Lilly was pretty good in 2002 and 2004, and decent in 2006. It's not like he's Rusch here. Nate Robertson has some similarities, results wise. I think Doug Davis is another comparison. These guys aren't great, but if you are going to be getting multiple pitchers, they could be the robin to the offseason equivalent of batman. Throw Moyer money at them, and you could benefit. I'd like to go in another direction myself, but if you have multiple holes, this type of pitcher might be a reasonable target. This goony fella sounds like a smart baseball fan. He could go places. i heard he got banned it was justified He's spent all of his new free time opening up the world's first jerkstore. I keed, I keed.
  4. Lou Piniella = Colossal failure as manager of the Cubs who duped everyone waxing poetic about midgets who can walk and Murton in the 2 hole. Uh oh. That sound you hear is the honeymoon ending prematurely. Caught playing grab-ass in the first month....honeymoon, over. ? We've lost a ton of close ballgames b/c a bunch of guys who should be producing, aren't. That's not Lou's fault. A ton of guys aren't producing and we're still in just about every game. That's not playing "grab-ass" on Lou's part. It's the players not earning their paychecks. If people aren't producing and there are better players on the bench (Murton, Theriot) and there are players like Eyre still pitching in crucial situations, then I feel perfectly justified placing a lot of the blame on Lou. When players that aren't producing yet aren't replaced by available better players, you can't just blame the players forever. There are plenty of things Lou has or hasn't done that are ticking me off, but I'm not ready to close the book on him yet. He's still getting a feel for his new team and the coaching staff working together...if he's still making the big mistakes even just a couple weeks from now, THEN I'll be fed up.
  5. Len and Bob are pretty good about shuffling out the people that are really stinking it up or having nothing to say except promote whatever it is they're there to shill. I like it when they get celebs who are obviously fans of the Cubs or just baseball in general and seem genuinely thrilled to be up there, and they seem to get them a lot.
  6. I concur. I totally agree. It only bugs me when they can't even bother to get the incredibly easy lyrics right, a la Jeff Gordon. Other than that, it's fun to see who they get up there. I think people are taking it too seriously and inexplicably acting like it was some kind of scared thing that only Harry could do...IMO, it's that kind of thinking that's lead to us having our only statue outside of the park of a man who's remembered more as a lovable joke than anything else. THAT, outside of this team being so bad, is what I find embarassing.
  7. seriously, they need to pull the plug on this Agreed. What should replace it? A recording of Harry? Ron Santo? A strict restriction on who can sing it, like former players/broadcasters only? How about people that can actually sing? Harry would have never gotten the job in the first place.
  8. I think he always looks on the verge of tears.
  9. The most obvious answer is just let Len and Bob do it. Is this over Keaton today? I was out of the room, but it didn't seem that bad. He's no singer, but I don't see what was so horrible. Quite frankly, I have about a thousand other concerns that rank ahead of singing during the stretch when it comes to the Cubs. So long as someone isn't up there throwing flaming garbage down onto the crowd, I really don't care how good or bad they are.
  10. The stiff back explains not only his lack of playing time, but also probably why he looks so rushed at the plate.
  11. has he done anything for it not to be? Not be Izturius?
  12. Theriot hasn't been walking as much as I would like, and I would rather not see DLee batting 2nd. Bat Barrett 2nd, followed by Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, and I could live with that. Until Lee shows he can get back just some of his pre-injury power consistently, I think he's by far the best #2 option on the team and would thrive in that role. If the Cubs wised up and were able to trade Zambrano for a serious impact bat, I'd move Lee to #2 in a heartbeat.
  13. I can't be the only one who finds these sudden "back injuries" to be a little too convenient. That's pretty ridiculous. I understand there's a lot of love for the kid, and I'd definitely like to see him play more, but what's the point of the Cubs making something up to sit him? It's not like with Prior or Wood, guys who were THE faces of this team outside of Sosa with so much expected out of them, where the team making up excuses or hiding news isn't a real surprise. Why bother doing that with Murton?
  14. 96 between homeruns.
  15. I say we take a cue from one of my favorite bands, the New Pornographers, and declare it "Salvation Holdout Central."
  16. I have nothing to add except your avatar is pure insanity and it completely baffles me.
  17. The Cubs are taking a Luol Deng all over the field right now. ... Yeah, that sounded a lot funnier in my head.
  18. Man, I really wish 2003 never happened. I was perfectly satisfied watching year after year of crappy baseball. Now it hurts a zillion times worse.
  19. They only pretend to care. Everyone else is having too much fun.
  20. For those of you who can't watch this or any other Cub game, I've provided a feed to help you out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cVlbIWq1EA&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fhirejimessian%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ephp%2F2007%2F04%2F20%2F36%2Dwade%2Din%2Draw%2Dsewage%2Dmiller%2F
  21. hahahaha with your track record on promises, you'll be back in 25 minutes. Very funny. Sorry if I forgot to laugh. i laughed. I didn't say I was leaving NSBB. I said I am done watching this team until we are back in it (if ever). Why do you all find it funny to keep joking about something like it's so god damn funny? I was sick, getting nautious every day, and I was irritated. Now in my worst day in recent memory, my aunt gets diagnosed with cancer, and you all laugh. SCREW YOU ALL you heartless bastards!! Are you serious? Nobody is laughing about your aunt's illness. The jab was in regards to how you very vocally decalred you were once leaving the board and then showed up again within, what, a week? Re-read the posts, and you'll see nobody was making their jokes about your aunt and couldn't have known since it wasn't mentioned then. I'm sorry for her illness, but please don't accuse us of something we clearly didn't do.
