    Can Miller? His pitching career revolved around him being a fireballer. It's a stretch to think that he can suddenly readjust his pitching style completely not that the main reason for his success is gone.

    Barrett is bordering on being completely useless at this point. I think his offenseive numbers are decent at home, but he's Neifi-esque on the road...combine that with his typical bad to worse dfense and he's making Blanco look like a MUCH better option at this point. he chokes pretty regularly defensively late in the game, but he'd have to play with no mitt to make blanco look like a better option period, let alone a MUCH better option. and, as i'm sure others have said...it's ridiculous to ask him to bunt right there. It's not just the bunt...he can't do anything at the plate if they're not at home. How long is this "slump" going to keep going? What good is Barrett really for this team if he can't hit anything like he did before?

    Wow, I had no idea that "Meatball" Mitre was doing so well. It would be so ironic if he and Nolasco and Pinto come to town and beat the pants off of the Cubs just after Slappy McRagdollarm personally beat us 2 games in a row. Only the Cubs.

    Actually, to be fair, this was the first time in a long time that the team DIDN'T revolve around the question of Wood and Prior. They set it up so anything they would have done this year would be a bonus.

    Great to see Hill bounce back like this. I don't care how people try and spin it, Lou taking Hill out when he did was just stupid. It wasn't the end of the game, let your ace who is basically cruising keep on dominating. Maybe if there was someone on 3rd with only 1 or 0 outs, but a guy on 3rd and 2 outs? Come on, Lou. You know how bad this bullpen can be. Stick with the hot hand and gamble (I know, horrible odds) that one of these bi-polar bats suddenly comes to life.

    God, it's such a remote long shot, or at least it seems like it is, but if he could come back and be that reliever he was a couple years ago...man...he could be the hero of the season.

    I swear, in a recent game thread, people were trying to tell me that the Cub's stats this year regarding losing one run games meant nothing. Those people are liars.

    He had a nice game yesterday when he got the start. So why does he forget to how to hit when he comes off the bench? And what about the starts where he's done nothing? I understand he's in a crappy spot, but hey, these are supposed to be pros...if it's "mental," suck it up. Frank Thomas said it took him years to adjust from not playing in the field to just grabbing a bat and walking to the plate. If the "right-handed Ted Williams" has trouble with it, I can't imagine it would somehow be easier for Murton. Fair enough.

    where were you when Murton was 2-3 with a walk yesterday? give me a break I know he's had a few games this year, but he's had a bunch of really crappy starts, and he seems completey useless coming off the bench.
