I think a split is a pretty big letdown actually. They score 4 on Hudson in the first inning, and get out of facing Smoltz. Not only that, but they get Jones actually doing something with the hat and taking out Hudson just as he seemed to be recovering from the 1st and getting locked in. Oh, but then some mytsical and mysterious SIDE-THROWER comes in, to baffle and frighten the Cubs with his superhuman abilities, ooooooooooh! I'm really sick of how a tiny tweek in the "typical" pitch delivery leaves the Cubs baffled, like a guy throwing sidearm, or, say, left-handed.
