  1. Let me guess, that's in reference to the sudden color change from red to green on the broadcast? Yeah, it was quite festive.
  2. Man, Jones got lucky that throw kicked away. His baserunning tonight has been horrendous.
  3. Damn, floated that just a bit too high.
  4. That was your second post freaking out over Howry...do you really think he's that bad? i know he's not that bad, but i've never been that confident with him in there. and you have a weird perception of "freaking out" Well, you posted twice bemoaning Howry coming out in very short succession. Maybe it was just hyperbole, but your worrying was pretty obvious.
  5. Man, I guess I'm one of the few that really doesn't worry when Howry comes in. He looked terrible the first month this season, but otherwise he's been one of the team's most reliable and effective relievers his entire time with Chicago.
  6. That was your second post freaking out over Howry...do you really think he's that bad?
  7. Wow, Z gave up 5 walks? He looked much better tonight, but that part of his game is just awful. Better teams will make him pay dearly for walking that many guys.
  8. Marshall was always likely to get 2-3 starts off with Ol' Steve back, so this isn't really a surprise at all.
  9. I'd love to see Z have more AB's like that than just always hacking away.
  10. Z wearing his socks the right way.
  11. I wish I had even a shred of confidence in this team and Zambrano winning tonight. If they do win I will be incredibly surprised. In fact, I'd be shocked if they even won 2 of the remaining 5 games against the Pirates.
  12. Golf, golf, golf, taking in a movie, golf, golf and golf.
  13. HAW-HAW! YOU'LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT.
  14. Rich just wanted everyone else to feel better about their crappy and inadequate fielding this game. He's so considerate.
  15. The Pirates are really shaping up to be the team that completely knocks us out of playoff contention. We play them 5 more times, for one, and despite their overall record, their offense has really turned it on. Normally teams are able to just outscore them in a slugfest, but the Cubs have little to no power on their best days, so that's just not happening. Combine that with how the baby bears just love to roll over for crappy pitchers and lefties and I'm thinking the Cubs are lucky if they somehow manage to 2 of these last 6 games against the Pirates.
  16. Figures. I forsee every one of the NL Central "leaders" losing like amateurs tonight.
  17. Papelbon - 1.61 ERA, 75 K/15 walks, .77 WHIP Dempster - 3.88 ERA, 48K/27 walks, 1.28 WHIP. But hey, at least his performance in situations arbitrarily defined by a meaningless statistic is only marginally worse than Papelbons! (Also, let's not mention the two tie games he entered and singlehandedly let get out of reach) Excellent points made comparing Dempster to a real closer. Saves are a meaningless statistic For the 2006 and 2007 seasons combined Dempster's ERA is close to 4.50. That's horrible for a so-called closer. So you'll stack up his pretty bad 2006 season with his decent 2007 season, but totally leave out his excellent 2005 season? How does that work?
