exactly. if dude was in new york or boston or even st louis, the major networks wouldn't shut up about him. He has surpassed his cousin as a hitter and is easily out hitting him this year, yet if u asked someone at ESPN they would tell u how manny was for sure the better of the two. What? I said that he is better than Manny but ESPN would still say Manny is better they're related? Cousins. Once I found that out I realized they do look very similar, both in appearance and how they hit and stand and act at the plate.

Yeah and he's horrible in LF now. Considering how stiff and immobile he is now, plus the fact that he hasn't played 1st, he would be a disaster there also. Anything to back up that he's actually "horrible" out there? I know it's not realistic and this organization would never consider it, nor does he really fit, but Bonds' bat in this lineup, even just for one season, would be amazing.

I didn't know there was a rule against reading about Prior when the Cubs were possibly going to make the playoffs. Multi-tasking. It's not the end of the world.

If the Cubs play like they should against the Pirates and the Marlins and at least win both series, I don't have a problem with this. Of course, what the Brewers do in the meantime should weigh heavily on Lou's final decision between now and then, no matter how well the Cubs do. If the Brewers keep pace and are are within 2 games or less, please don't. Hell, start Gallagher if you're so worried about Marshall. Just no Steve except for relief in a blowout.

Looking at their current standings as of tonight, they are at 8 games over, and I keep thinking that this is the peak that they've gotten too several times this season in terms of being over .500, but they were never able to cross it. Am I just totally making that up or is there some truth to it?

Though wouldn't it be safe to say that guys like that pitching today as opposed to 30-40 years ago are clearly the exception as opposed to the rule?

Zambrano's reaction would have been to walk him, give up a single, hit the next batter, then give up another hit that scores at least 2 runs before being yanked. then he'd point at the sky and thank god for being so crappy I hate when people say that; it's ignorant. He does that every single time he leaves the field; good or bad. I'm positive it's a religious thing and pretty disrespectful when people make comments like that, in my opinion. Yes, we know why he's doing it. I don't care if it's a "religious thing" or not. It's on the field, so I look at it the same as any of his other responses and actions a la the fist pumps and tantrums and cheering and whatnot.

Or all the games our offense blew when the pitching only gave 2-3 runs, or kept the lead within 1-2 the whole game. It's simply not fair or realistic to lump something like that solely on the bullpen.

Yeah, I'm not gonna pretend he didn't stink at the beginning of this season, but I've mentioned in more than a few game threads over the last couple of months why it baffles me that some people are so nervous when he comes in. With very few exceptions he's been amazingly lights out. Worked very well last year, too. And he looks like the T-1000.

You could basically make the same argument for Dusty after 2003 and even 2004. Look how well that worked out. I think there have been far too many warning signs this year that Yost just isn't cut out for his job. If that's so, I hope he's the Brewers' manager for many years to come.
