  1. Hey Miguel...that shot is out at Wrigley! *Hint-hint*
  2. The insane humidity? The inherrent shame of living on America's wang?
  3. To be fair, once you watch like 55% of your games (all the WGN and CSN home games, plus the occasional national game) in HD, the other half or so look pretty freakin crappy. Yeah, I'll live. But once you get used to HD, other stuff looks pretty crappy. Like VHS compared to DVD. I guess since I don't have an HD TV I really can't get into the whole HD craze. Yeah, it definitely looks better, not not so much that I feel like I'm really missing anything not watching it in HD. With DVD's, I'm buying movies and TV shows that typically are shot to be of a certain expected level of "filmed" quality, so there I definitely appreciate any advances in picutre clarity much moreso than when I watch sports. As long as I can see what's going on, I'm good. HD really isn't ging to highlight something I'm going to miss otherwise.
  4. OH MY GOD, HOW WILL PEOPLE WATCH THEIR BASEBALL IN ANYTHING BUT HIGH DEFINITION?!?
  5. His main reasoning besides is ARod might be rusty playing SS, a spot where he was one of the greatest of all time? Jeeeeeeeezum Crow. Wait to see the big picture, slick.
  6. Alright, the bats are alive and they just pounded the hell out of 3 lefties for a sweep...no excuse to not continue the same tonight. Same lineup, please.
  7. Even looking at Kendall's numbers against D-Train, I still want Soto out there. Don't mess with success right now.
  8. Plus, we aren't facing quaility pitching. The whole Marlins series the pitchers have ERA in the 5's. If you can't take 2/3 or sweep these guys you might as well pack it up. This should be over by Friday. We got swept by those fools earlier this year. Yeah, but that was during the dark days of this season. Anyone could have swept the Cubs then...and sometimes did.
  9. That was before today, at least I am assuming it will go down after today. I'm incredibly optimistic right now, but I will believe everything about the Cubs going to the playoffs when I see it. Until they clinch, I must be even just a little wary.
  10. Hasn't he been hitting well? Sucks if he was and now he's out against the Brewers.
  11. One problem with that is them showing hits/home runs from the Cubs-Marlins series when the Cubs got swept. Aren't these supposed to be positive memories? One of those clips is definitely from the NSBB day game, which I thought really weird. I saw several losses in there...I guess it was more of a HR reel than anything. Weird seeing those Barrett shots.
  12. Cardinals, if you sweep the Brewers, I will slap a Pujols avatar up and leave it there through all of next season.
  13. Ironically, here's a 2007 tribute using the 2004 song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsJ17aQRlVE
  14. Here's the montage (with Len's voice-a-crackin' left and right!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-gZXNI4k70 Very nice that it's not nearly as soul-crushing and depressing as the last 3 years. That 2004 one still makes me tear up whenever I see it. Let's hope this is the start of something really special. Cubs win, dammit.
  15. [expletive]. I'm so pissed I had to work and didn't bother to record this. If anyone could somehow send me a captured copy of the game over the interwebs, please PM me.
  16. Interesting stuff all around, especially in that last quote. If Canning getting the bid means we get ARod, well, suddenly Cuban doesn't appear to be the only "savior" on the horizon. That said, some things strike me as odd...like the article said, wouldn't this type of contact/negotiation be against league rules? I'm not sure it's tampering if the "potential owner" isn't the actual owner. Assume, I sat here today and said if I were owner of the Cubs, I'd give Arod a 30 million a year contract and let him own part of the team. Is that tampering? No. Why? Because I don't own the Cubs. While this group may be closer along than I'll ever be to owning the Cubs, truth is, they don't. By the time they do, it won't be tampering to make the offer official. OK, that explains it. Thanks, Vance!
  17. Seal the cement, redo the field, upgrade the facilities, and the easiest problem to fix is probably the food. They need to fix the field and the concrete, but what really needs to be done is to simply gut the place and expand the clubhouses, replace the bathrooms, etc. Yes. I'm tired of peeing in a trough. Not me. I'm all for new and bigger bathrooms, but just make the troths longer, too. You can get a lot more pee-ers in and out using those than just urinals and stalls.
  18. Cards will beat the Brewers once. They have a tendency to lose big, lose big, then win one. If the Cards were to sweep the series, I'd use a Cardinals avatar for the remainder of the regular season. If the Cards sweep the series, I'd use a Pujols avatar for all of next season.
  19. Damn...I duplicated your thread!
  20. The comments from Alfonso are especially worrisome. Granted, I expect the home players to kind of "know" their field, but if it is really this crappy out there, I'd hate to see potential post-season victory spoiled by a chewed up turf. Remember...this is the Cubs. An infamous bad bounce that leaves us all in tears is not out of the question.
  21. It's the NY Post, so have your grains of salt at the ready: http://www.nypost.com/seven/09232007/news/nationalnews/a_rod_agent__a_cub_cout.htm Interesting stuff all around, especially in that last quote. If Canning getting the bid means we get ARod, well, suddenly Cuban doesn't appear to be the only "savior" on the horizon. That said, some things strike me as odd...like the article said, wouldn't this type of contact/negotiation be against league rules?
  22. Is Bay likely to sit again tomorrow? If so, there's absolutely no excuse for Z not to totally dominate the Pirates.
  23. It depresses me that we have to be so nervous about our ace starting tomorrow. Well, at least we won the series.
