  1. Completely self-defeating thinking. If a prospect isn't an immediate success in the majors, they can't play? This seems like exactly the kind of detrimental mentality that has helped the Cubs not develop more players internaly.
  2. Yep. He is so overmatched at the plate it's comical at times. The question now is do you keep him with the big league team and give him a start every 10 games or so and let him be a late inning defensive replacement or send him down and let him work on shortening his swing? I know, I know...he crushes AAA pitching and has nothing more to prove. Clearly he does have more to prove because nothing he did down there is translating here and now. Unbelievable. People are talking like it's two weeks until the end of the season as opposed to just two weeks into it and Pie hasn't had all that many AB's. There should be zero question what to do with him...how is he supposed to adjust and step up if he doesn't get regular playing time? It's a painful process, but it has to be done to see if he can make the jump. If the Cubs aren't even going to bother to do that for at least a couple months, just give up on him now and trade him while he was value instead of dumping off yet another prospect they've screwed up.
  3. For the time being. He's not gonna shake it unless he gets consistent starts aainst all righties the Cubs face.
  4. Someone needs to leave Pie's swing alone and give him two months of starting without being yanked after every 0-for-4. so ship him off to the D-Rays or Royals is what you're saying? Or better yet...Iowa? He doesn't deserve 2 months of sucking. Especially considering how inconsistent this line up can be as it is. Actually, there's zero reason that Cubs shouldn't be able to handle Pie's development, even if it basically takes an entire season to figure out whether or not he can click. A player with as much potential as Pie has, as young as he is, as much as he's shown in the minors and that he may be able to anchor the outfield for the next decade+, he needs to be given the room to develop. If the Cubs wised up, it wouldn't be a huge deal to leave a lineup slot to do that...the probem is, they have another hole at SS that they refuse to fix, and instead of trying to fix that probelm, they're gonna jerk around Pie instead.
  5. LOL I GET IT BECAUSE THEY BOTH PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND WERE BOTH HIGHLY TOUTED PROSPECTS LOL DuBois was highly touted? Well, around here. He was "touted" in that people waned to see him play over Hollandsworth. That's like saying Theriot was "highly touted" because people here generaly wanted him starting instead of Izturius.

  7. I'd assume Cedeno would be included in any deal for Brignac, or do they have multiple SS options?
  8. I was just getting ready to break out the little graphic explanation... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Random%20Cool%20Shit/caring.png Except that "could care less" is sarcasm. From time to time. Most of the time, it's someone getting the actual phrase completely wrong.
  9. Me too. I doubt there was a bigger Patterson supporter on here when he was a cub. I dunno, there was that one REALLY fat guy.
  10. My response would be, "man, that's a horrible, horrible opinion, Lee...but thank you for being a productive and key player for this team." As opposed to, "oh, good, something else Ryan Theriot is terrible at."
  11. I was wondering the same thing myself. the only race thing I remember was him saying that black people play better in the heat. You don't remember his claims of incessant racial taunts against LaTroy Hawkins and Jacque Jones? Or his comments about San Francisco's racist tendencies when they ran him out of town? his defenses of LaTroy and Jacque were justified No, because he exagerrated a few awful incidents/letters/comments to basically represent the entire fanbase, or at least most of it.
  12. The more important question is, which horrible SS will the Cubs end up with next that has kind words for Ryan Theriot?
  13. No, the main "job" of a "leadoff hitter" is to score runs.
  14. No, it's really not, because our kneejerk reactions don't stupidly make the team worse.
  15. Sure would be nice to have the option to play Murton.
  16. I'm praying that "throwback" actually means they'll be throwing back the hideous blue jerseys to whatever awful baseball jersey hell they came from.
  17. Why? Did he remove Hill from the rotation yet? Read his quote again. He doesn't say anything about removing Hill. He just sounds concerned with how Hill is pitching, and that's justified. It's not just this. Lou isn't Baker...yet. I haven't been terribly impressed with a lot of his managing. Yeah, yeah, "he got the team to the playoffs"...well, so did Dusty. I wasn't thrilled with the Lou signing when it first happened. He's been better than I feared, but nothing special.
  18. Lou is annoying.
  19. Bat Soto 5th and Fukudome 2nd. Getting them both more AB's is more gooder.
  20. Dear Lord, batting Fontenot at #2 while Fukudome draws breath is beyond stupid.
  21. I hope he does well, but I hate tha it would happen under Baker's watch.
