    For superficial epic reasons, I'd like either of the Sox teams to make it to the WS. Out of those likely to make it, bring on the freakin' Angels. I think they're definitely overhyped thanks to feasting on the worst division in baseball. They're very good, but I don't think they're THAT good.

    Who's the other middle IF that's hurt? Apparently Cedeno couldn't start yesterday. Hurt his shoulder sliding into 1st base. Will that dumbass ever learn that it's not a good idea to slide head first into 1st? Will any dumbass ever learn that? He's hardly the only MLBer that does it. Hell, DeRosa's done it.

    If the Cubs go to the WS, win or lose, Chicago is NOT getting the Olympics. Bet on it.

    Choke? If the Cubs lose to the Brewers it certainly wouldn't be choking. It's not possible for the Cubs to choke this series.

    I agree wholeheartedly with the last sentence above. I'll never get the desire for people, Cubs fans no less, not to get behind him 100 percent. He doesn't get on in the 10th, we don't win. Period. Sure, obsess over his imperfections, but he's had a great season, and any notion to "bench" Theriot is absurd. I can take or leave Cedeno, but he sure strikes me as a dumb player most of the time. Theriot has worked his butt off to maximize his talent and had a fine year. I, too, don't understand why so many posters are against him. I'm not "aganst" him, but I want the Cubs to upgrade SS if possible. Cedeno isn't that upgrade, but Theriot's age, sub-Neifi/Pierre levels of power, terrible defense and horrible baserunning meas he should be the backup in 2009 for, ideally, whoever the Cubs find as their new starting SS. depending on the new ownership, SS is likely a position the Cubs will be happy to have filled on the cheap next year Unfortunately.

    DeRo seemed to be walking fine...hopefully they're just being smart and playing it safe due to soreness from a funky slide.

    He started game 7 of the NLCS in 2006 and went 6 innings giving up 1 run. I guess that's where it comes from?? They didn't even win that game. Oliver Perez has a worse ERA+ than any of the 9 pitchers who have started a game for the Cubs this year. He also has a knack for coming up with big outings against some tough opponents (Philly, Yankees) and then crapping the bed against weak teams (Washington, Pittsburgh). It's more about his inconsistenct but occasional dominance than any one big playoff game (he's only pitched in 2 in his career). SEND OUT THE SCRUBS TONIGHT!

    Aside from the fact that not once in his career has Eckstein ever gotten on base as frequently as Theriot has this year, you're totally right! How do they compare speed-wise and defensively?

    Me. I was also on the Dierker bandwagon, and whastsisface who went to the Marlins, but I definitely preferred Lou to Girardi (who I didn't want at all).

    Theriot's year has mostly been a pleasant surprise, but I still hope that the team isn't assuming SS is taken care of for 2009. Upgrade-upgrade-upgrade.

    He's Juan Pierre minus the speed plus the "ability" for his groundballs to find gaps in the infield.

    Berkman is just mad that the camera caught him wetting his pants and scurrying to the dugout because of the thunder. I love that he threw off his chain, too. And you didn't "play through" the storm, Lance. He's such a douche. What he said is absolutely accurate. If the Cubs were in the same position as the Astros many people who post here would be whining like a 6 year old. What throws the spanner ino the works of him and the other players complaining is their own owner doing as much as possible to ultimately screw them over and not working with the MLB to get the games somewhere more "neutral."
