  1. Eh, get him out of there. No need to push it.
  2. Might be hurt. Won't be playing tonight and stopped practicing today to get his hand checked out as a precaution. Said he hurt it before he hit the HR last night, just to reaffirm his studliness. As per the Score about 30 minutes ago.
  3. Isn't "jersey shirt" redundant?
  4. Basically. And he arguably got the job done by getting the batter to hit into a perfect DP ball that would have ended the inning that DeRosa completely screwed up. As Kasper and Brenley have pointed out, he needs to work on his secondary pitches. The reason I think he is in trouble is that he can't throw strikes until he's in a hitter's count and then the batter knows a fastball is coming. Lou is very intolerant of pitchers who walk people and fall behind on every batter. Which he actually wasn't doing yesterday. He wasn't throwing 1st-pitch strikes, but he was then consistently getting to 1-2 counts or 2-2 counts.

  7. Somewhere, Michael Barrett is failing.
  8. Unless he does something heroic in the WS, no. Nothing against him, but he'll end up being a Cub for, like, half a season.
  9. I'd be curious to see how the other playoff teams offenses look compared to the other months. Not that the Cubs aren't showing a serious swoon, but I wonder how much of it is just the grind of the season.
  10. Marmol was deliciously filthy today. Please end this here. Soribomb FTW.
  11. I guess. Not much that can be done at this point.
  12. Whoops. The crappy defense being back isn't fun to watch.
  13. Jeez, what an anti-climactic 2 days.
  14. ...don't exist.
  15. Outside of Fielder, they didn't look too impressive.
  16. The concern there is that Shouse is waiting in the pen to come in, and Shouse kills lefties. PH with Edmonds, and then you're stuck with Blanco after Shouse comes in, and then who? Zambrano? Ideally you're trying to get that extra run in on 3rd with 1 out in the 8th and then win it. Again, it worked out with Blanco, but it would have been ideal to maximize the attempt to get Aramis in from 3rd with only 1 out.
  17. I've had it happen to me several times. I'll be somewhere where I can't access the game, and I turn it on right as inning begins. After the first batter was cut off by a commercial break, Santo starts off on some story and Hughes gets in some pointless, psuedo-funny jibe. They banter awkwardly, Santo rambles off into some laughing/coughing fit, Hughes steps in and points out, as an aside, the batter No. 2 grounded out a minute ago and No. 3 is now up with a 2-0 count. I've been listening for 3 minutes and not heard the score, nor a single pitch described. I'm sorry, I'm never going to believe for a second that they let an entire play go by without any mention of it. That's basically a slam on the professionalism of Hughes as a broadcaster, especially if you're saying that he opts himself to banter with Ron instead of calling the game. Not liking Santo is one thing, but saying Hughes purposely ignores plays is complete BS.
  18. I've never heard a play, important or otherwise, missed on a Cubs radio broadcast. Santo rambles, but he doesn't talk over Pat when a play actually occurs outside of his usual background emotional responses/noises (for which his mic is often turned down or even off if need be) if the play merits one.
