  1. I don't think the line is crap at all. It's not talking about the clubhouse or in private or whatever...I fully expect players to flip out then. The line is about when you're in the dugout or on the field or even in public...you just don't typically see these guys meltdown in despair like that until they're out of sight or in private.
  2. When Tom Hanks says that there's no crying in baseball, UMFan boos.
  3. Yeah, that damn Soriano simply does not score runs as a leadoff hitter. DAMN HIMMMMMMM. he said he wants someone with higher OBP not the ability to score runs But you want those guys on base...so they can eventually score runs. Unless a gritty run counts for more, PUH-SHAW. I'm not saying Soriao needs to be hitting leadoff, but it's not like he's been damaging up there. People talk like all his runs are crippling the team.
  4. Yeah, that damn Soriano simply does not score runs as a leadoff hitter. DAMN HIMMMMMMM.
  5. Sori rules. Pics like that make me like him even more.
  6. Those damn little things. Little. Tiny. Like sand. Gritty sand. So gritty. So, so gritty.
  7. Strikeouts are overrated. Dunn is a vastly superior player to Soriano. Not the same player outside of the horrendous strike out rate. There's not much difference IMO. Soriano is Dunn of the tools first guys. Dunn is the Soriano of the SABR guys. Both are really flawed players. Dusty? Is that you? Soriano and Dunn are not at all alike. They both strike out a lot and that's it. To say there's not much difference is pretty ridiculous. Soriano swings at everything Dunn swings at strikes. Yeah, pretty big difference. Plus Dunn hits for way more power while Soriano hits for better average and is faster. Same player though...totally. I'm glad you understood what I said thank you. They are not alike as players but in terms of where they stand on the SABR vs. Tools debate they both stand at about the same spot on the spectrum both are hilariously overrated by the guys on their argument side. 8. It's not a crapshoot when you turn in one of the worst playoff appearances of all time. The team choked, and Soriano is one of the worst playoff performers of all time considering the number of at bats he's gotten. Nothing wrong with trying to get rid of him. There is if there is no better option to replace him. Getting rid of him to let Hoffpauir play is akin to moving Alou so DuBois can play. Now if you sign Manny Ramirez then by all means move Soriano. Even if we do that though, Soriano has a no trade clause and a huge contract that both make it impossible to move him. I'm not advocating replacing him with someone like Hoffpauir. But if someone will take that contract, you jump on it. It's incredibly unlikely that anyone takes on the contract, and it's incredibly stupid that people keep acting like Soriano hurts this team instead of being an invaluable part of its offense that helped it win the divison two years in a row. Nobody likes his contract, but this talk like "he's hurting the team" or that "he needs to go" is just asinine.
  9. Good God, just ban the troll already.
  10. So when they start sending all the Howry jerseys and jersey shirts to the dump, are you going to grab as many as you can? Heck yes. Jerseys are expensive.
  11. These new-fangled "planes" are never gonna catch on.
  12. Batting Soriano lower than #5 seems really silly. Giving DeRosa more AB's over Soriano seems extra special sooper-dooper silly.
  13. Dodgers. I don't have anything against them, I like the team and I always root for the NL over the AL unless it's the Cardinals or Mets.
  14. If it's free? Of course. I'd wear a Juan Pierre Cubs jersey if it was free.
  15. Maybe not, but when Soriano doesn't hit he affects the rest of the lineup. I am a believer that he should hit lower in the lineup and a guy with a stronger OBP should hit leadoff. But most important, I would like for a team to have a good sound discipline at the plate not just in the season, but in the playoffs. With that said, barring a miracle, I expect "Sorry I know" to hit leadoff next yr. Soriano does not dictate the performace of the rest of the lineup. They performed just fine this year when he was injured or going through one of his cold streaks.
  16. HE IS RIGHT A DIFFERENT BATTER AT THE TOP MAGICALLY MAKES THE CUBS NOT SUCK IN THEIR LAST 6 PLAYOFF GAMES OK BYE

  18. He's not? OK...how many runs has the ultimate leadoff hitter produced in the postseason the last two years? There is your answer. So a player's worth over a 162-game season is defined by their playoff performance. I guess we can chalk up the Cubs' paltry postseason offense as a team the last two seasons to Soriano hitting leadoff. Makes perfect sense.
  19. Always really liked and respected Bay and I'm glad he's playing on a stage where he'll get more of that.
  20. I'm pretty sure Ted Lilly has killed before.
  21. Almost everything suggested here is redonkulous.
  22. With his offensive output, I'd have zero problem dealing with him in the OF if need be. I don't either. I'm sure he wouldn't be a liability out there. But I'd question his interest in playing the OF. Well, that's the big question. That's why I suggested that Hendry would likely be sending inquiries to the agent around his interest in that. Enough $$$ may change his mind about it. Exactly. He's played it before, albeit limited, and tons of money has a remarkable way of convincing players to do things.
  23. It would be a signficantly more expensive platoon, with 2 guys well past their prime years. I would bet heavily against them repeating those totals. Indeed. It was nice they struck gold with Edmonds this year, but it's time to let him on his way.
  24. With his offensive output, I'd have zero problem dealing with him in the OF if need be.
