    And he brought this all on himself. There may be some blame to go around, but 99% of it is on Milton Bradley and people need to stop pretending otherwise. Nobody's really doing that (if anything it's people talking about how to ideally attempt to maximize a bad situation), nor was that the question.

    Not lamenting it anymore, but I've got to believe he would have played a tad better than he is right now if he was still in his familiar role with the Cubs. Why? He wouldn't have been injured? Why would he have been immune to the "team slumps" the lineup seemed to go through this year? He certainly wasn't last year the few times the lineup went cold.

    Exactly. Even the people that would prefer Bradley remaining here agree that he's a jackass. We get it. He's also a better player than whatever the alternative is, whether that be an in-house option or Chone Figgins. Pretty much. It's about as far as we can get from an ideal situation, but I'd much rather have him and his baggage and his production than downgrading an already shaky lineup and eating salary with the team seemingly strapped for cash for the forseeable future.

    Leaving Gregg in as long as he did and now PHing Miles in this spot makes it abundantly clear that Lou simply does not give a [expletive].

    How? How does it effect the game if they don't like Bradley? How is Bradley impacting any of these players when they go up to bat or are making a play in the field or pitching the ball? He's not: that's simply not realistic at all. You're either saying the players are so weak-minded that they can't produce because they're constantly thinking about a guy who has absolutely nothing to do with them at that moment or they're so petty they're essentially willfully focusing on Bradley over the game. Again, I'm not saying Bradley's a jerk, but I want to know how people know or think that his attitude is actually impacting the play of the other players or the outcomes of the games.

    How is it "outweighing" his production? How is it not "outweighing" his production? Reality? The perceptions of the fans should not dictate the removal of a useful player just because he's a jerk. There's absolutely nothing that shows that his behavior or attitude has been detrimental to the team's play.

    Still don't know how that actually causes the Cubs to lose over, say, Aramis missing a ton of time, Soriano playing hurt and being ineffectual except for two months, the Miles/Fontenot combo somehow being even worse than the worst case scenario and Soto having a horrendous sophomore slump likely (and hopefully) due to nagging injuries, weight gain and the WBC. Bradley's attitude is pretty far down the list in terms of reasons for this letdown of a season, especially coupled with how productive he's been for most of the year. Bradley's a pain in the ass, but anyone thinking his attitude is more detrimental than all of that simply is not being realistic.

    Well, if you had a pain in the ass working with you everyday that complained all of the time and was extremely negative would it impact your co-workers performance? If they sucked already, maybe. I sincerely hope the other Cubs' tears don't stain their Lisa Frank sticker-covered Trapper Keepers.

    Distraction for who? People honestly think his comments or behavior are impacting the performances of the other players?

    The logical thing would he's back next year plugged into the #2 spot. He's shown he can perform with the fans hating him, so who gives a crap what they think? It's not like a significant number are going to stop buying tickets or merchandise because of Milton Bradley. There's simply not an actual need to trade him.

    I think he means right now, Soriano is done for the year and Bradley is always in flux, so the spot spots are "up for grabs" for the remainder of the year. This is true. Though Fox has been horrendous in the OF, so if they do intend on trading him it's not necessarily the best idea to have him out there looking bad coupled with his decline at the plate. Not that this is going to let the Cubs pull a fast one. Whatever, Fox isn't that good and Lou is an idiot. It's a perfect storm of suck either way.

    Is this his last year in Chicago? I have to believe that it is. This upcoming offseason is going to make the last offseason look like the best thing ever.

    The most frustrating thing about that article is that it made me think yet again about what maybe could have been if he had batted mostly RH this season.
