  1. One would think it wouldn't be necessary to explain how Ozzie's rants have little to nothing to do with the abilities of the baseball players he manages and the games they play.
  2. Tell me more, tell me more.
  3. LULZ Only .900? Glad to see your expectations are so reasonable, especially towards a guy who has managed that only once in his career.
  4. Let cutler choose the play. I think you may be on to something, Ron The Eli Manning Effect? Except less [expletive].
  5. You'd think if Wells was that bad they'd already have the book on him. He's pitched almost the whole season in the majors and had pretty consistent success. I wasn't a believer in the beginning, but at this point I think he has a pretty good chance of being a decent starter. He's been getting knocked around rather consistently towards the end of the season for a somewhat significant period of time now. That could be just be fatigue, but I'd still prefer to have Harden around instead of dumping him like Wells is a sure thing.
  6. There's a really good chance Wells gets clobbered next year with the book out on him, plus the Cubs should not be counting on Shark for anything except for some starts if injuries take out enough starters. He needs to be down in the minors starting on a regular basis. Not offering Harden arbitration blooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwws.
  7. Hester with one of the dorkiest celebration dances I've ever seen. Gotta work on that, son.
  8. How does Ron Turner manage to dress himself?
  9. That and you're a misery junkie.
  10. Why the [expletive] was he reaching?
  11. BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! What a dolt.
  12. Yeah what bums those guys have been in their careers. I see your point. In his 9year career Sori DID bat .300 once, and drive in 100 runs twice. He hit a lot of HR's and only struck out 130 times a year. And he was not the worst outfielder in the league either. I hope he comes back next year. I miss his classy GW hit trots. Really batting average and rbis are what your gauging his career on? Awesome. I hope he comes back too because as hard as Sam Fuld plays, he still sucks big time and if we lose Sori and Bradley pencil us in for about 65 wins. I understand your feelings on this thing. I just don't think the team likes the idea that 2 guys that can't even spell clutch make 5 times the money they do. I grant that Milton has NOT been horrible. (between the lines) Are you for real? Soriano was terrible this season, and that was a huge part of why this team went nowhere. Do you honestly think he wasn't a critical part of the team mamking the playoffs in 2007 and 2008?
  13. Though it wouldn't necessarily be a good "judgement year" if he's on the Cubs and they try and run him out there basically every 5th start. It should be clear that extra rest usually leads to him pitching like we know he can; hell the Cubs seemed to realize this in their statements before the season before seemingly forgetting what they had planned as soon as Opening Day rolled around.
  14. That's not an upside at all.
  15. That's a lot of maybe's for a pitcher this good. Given the difference in value beween a quality starter pitcher and a bullpen pitcher they better be pretty damn sure of most, if not all, of those possibilities before moving him to the bullpen.
  16. That was a really fun game. It's nice when the late ones get done in 2 hours!
  17. Even better! If they win a game where they faced Lincecum AND the Unit with this lineup...yowza.
  18. I think he'll end up there, eventually. I'd bet he gets one more season to show he can stay healthy in a rotation, though. What counts a healthy season? The past 2 have been fairly healthy. I'm trying to figure this out here. Check out his career numbers and tell me it doesn't have you re-thinking the situation? '08-09: Harden had 25 and 26 starts Why rethink? What you posted backs up what he said: he's been "fairly healthy" (at least) his two most recent seasons. Given what he's done the last 2 seasons and how he's shown that with some extra rest how effective he can be I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want around 20-25 starts from a pitcher with that much talent as opposed to banishing him to the bullpen.
  19. Well, it's pretty obvious why Lee and Aramis aren't in there, what with the neck spasms and shoulder discomfort respectively. We know why Soriano and Bradley aren't there so really the only guys that should arguably be in there tonight instead of what's out there are Soto and Fox, though both of them aren't much more likely to have success giving their glaring weaknesses against certain pitches.
  20. Split the difference tonight; Lincecum would have chewed Fox up and spit him out into the bay.
