    What does his job description have to do with how rival fans feel about him? He and his Gurussa have been lying for years and all savvy fans know it. What? He gets a pass for admitting he was dirty? Like we didn't know that? His handling of the Costas interview was as sickening as the congressional hearing. This mess will not go away, and until he and LaLiar are sent packing it will always be a black eye to the Cardinal Organization. Hitler is dead....Bin Laden is in hiding....McGwire will be O so accessible. Why are the fans going to go nuts when they didn't over Bonds? Or over ARod after his "revelation?" McGwire isn't going to get anything unusual except the usual catcalls by the people there early for a game. After that he's not going to be on the field during the game for "incidents."

    Wasn't it already announced at the Cubs Convention? Don't know if it was announced at the convention (wasn't there and didn't read a whole lot about it) but ever since it was known the Cubs were being sold and through the whole process with the Ricketts, it has rumored that the Cubs were interested/looking into starting up a YES type network. Yeah, it's been mentioned by the Ricketts a couple times but I'm wondering how likely it is that it actually occurs. How long are the Cubs signed to be on Comcast, WGN and WCIU?

    Yeah, I don't know why anyone wouldn't be enthusiastic for getting rid of Hinrich's contract, especially for Ray Allen.

    Who implied that? Then what does the broken bat have to do with anything? Given the context of the thread and your post there seemed to be an implication that was a 'roid-rage incident. If that's not what you were getting at, then why even bring it up? I see what you mean. I didn't bridge those 2 thoughts very well. I believe that steroids can lead to aggresive outbursts, whereas speed to a feeling of well being. Very different drugs. One long term and very serious, one short term where the effects go away pretty quickly. I can safely say with 10000% confidence that a ton of the "uppers" guys were taking most certainly do not leave people with only a "feeling of well being." The various types of speed-type drugs out there lead to aggression, nervousness and overexcitability more often than not.

    Losses like this are actually a good thing to remind the idiots running this team of that. And it's funny to think of UMFan being subjected to this live.

    Personally, I don't think it's a matter of them being better as just being in it. Neither the Cardinals or Brewers are any kind of lock to be significantly better than the Cubs. In all this is a very mediocre at best division, hence why it's potentially still winnable for the Cubs barring how a lot of the quesiton marks go.

    Plus it undercuts the whole argument against the appeal of NYC to players when the person arguing against it "doesn't get the appeal" himself.

    It's not just about the "abuse;" the guy suffered two serious injuries (the basepath collision and the linedrive off the elbow) that would sideline most pitchers.

    On the other side, it could be argued that guys like Prior and Nomar were fortunate to last as long as they did considering how fragile their bodies have proven to be. I think Prior proved to be as "fragile" as almost any other pitcher that would suffer those injuries. It's not like he just started breaking down: it took a pair of traumatic in-game injuries couple with rookie overuse to bring him down.

    I don't understand what you're saying here. Are you saying they're allowed to offer him whatever they want regardless of a cap? Because otherwise there's nothing stopping them from offering more than any other team so long as it fits into what they can afford or it keeps them under a cap (if they so wish to be).

    Cutler obviously has his flaws, but I think him throwing more TD's last year than any other year of his career given the circumstances was pretty damn impressive. I don't think Cutler is elite, but he's still a franchise guy. He's always going to throw more picks than you'd ideally want; it's going to be a matter of coaching and constructing a team to minimize that while capitalizing on his obvious talent...somewhat similar to Favre.

    I was in NY when the Knicks were last good, but I would not say they owned the town. They were no bigger than the Rangers who won the cup. Well, yeah, because they had just won the Cup and the Knicks hadn't won a championship. Whatever team wins the championship will be the biggest there when it happens. until a year goes by when they don't win it Uh, OK? Unless a NYC team is planning on winning a championship every year besides the Knicks that doesn't seem like a huge problem.

    If they move while a LeBron-lead team is kicking ass there already it'll be a while before they provide anything. The nature of the Mets's fanbase was rooted out of the neighborhood mentality that dictated NYC baseball fandom for so long. It's not like that with basketball. It's not like the Knicks are the team of a certain part of NYC: they're just NYC's team. Obviously, but I wasn't saying that the Knicks trumped all other teams in all the other sports when it comes to fan loyalty.
