  1. Glad for the overtime, but man, this 4th quarter has been a mess.
  2. Wow. This is a complete and total collapse.
  3. Man, that series with the Celtics last year would have been a lot different if Deng had been there like he's playing this year.
  4. If they lose it's back to the pound for most of them.
  5. Yeah, Heilman's horrible-ness has been vastly overstated on this board.
  6. It's so depressing that Mark Prior isn't even 30 yet.
  7. ? Nady's base salary is for $3.3 million, right? So if Dye turned that down, I would assume it was because he would only sign for more, unless Jermaine Dye is crazy and demanded that they pay him less than what was offered and the Cubs are even crazier and refused his crazy demands.
  8. Well, thank goodness for that. I wouldn't have had a problem with getting Dye, but not for more than what Nady got.
  9. The bullpen was perfectly average last year, Gregg aside. It's not like it has to be better from last year for the team to do well. Yes, it could easily be worse since we're talking relievers here, but analysis of last year's team that acts like the bullpen was a major problem isn't exactly realistic. The problem was much more along the lines of the underwhelming offense leaving too many close games for the bullpen to hold while the bats went dead.
  10. And he did it for a White Sox fan, too. Guy's got a big heart.
  11. It became very clear a while back that the Bulls weren't going to fire him until the season was over. As bad as they've been with the coaches they've hired in recent years their interim coaches have been nightmarishly worse, and that's not the situation you want to put a team this young into.
  12. Now THAT is how you cap a win.
  13. Have faith, sir.
  14. This laziness makes me furious. A gay Zambrano has amazing possibilites and this is what we get? BOOOOO THIS JOKE.
  15. A gay Zambrano would be amazing, but this is a pretty crappy joke. What he suddenly turned eloquent and a master of english? And he's been living proudly and openly as a gay man...with his wife and kid? Someone didn't do their research.
  16. Not really. The Cubs have little money to spend so they're not just going to toss it out there for a guy that could be useless. Yes, it makes sense he could be behind the curve coming back at the beginning, but the Cubs aren't going to throw money at him if he didn't pass physically with other options out there also on the cheap and without the recent TJS.
  17. It's true. I don't know why you're even debating whether or not to waste all of that money. You should. Go nuts. Pick a fight with a Manning. ENTERTAIN US.
  18. Did I talk more about Rich Hill than I remember doing? I hope Hill is just good enough to be mediocre in St. Louis and get crushed every time the Cubs face him. We'll see. He may have you mixed up with abuck. I figured the combination of an also-ran former Cubs pitcher and the much vaunted "pixie dust" of the Cardinals/Duncan that seems to give Andy fits might have been too much for him.
  19. No response from Andy yet? Maybe this killed him.
  20. More like 2-0. More like 1-0. 2-0 is the lowest possible score. It also means a defensive play is the only score which I assume the whole 3-0 thing was a joke due to the best two offenses are in the Superbowl. Ok thanks, I didn't understand. CAN YOU SAY THAT AGAIN? MY PENCIL BROKE.
  21. I agree that it's not the worst thing, but why limit your options with Dye when you can have a guy who can legitimately start some in Nady? Nady's a better option to start for an extended period of time than either Fuld or Dye, and is as good or better of a platoon option as Dye, so I don't see the interest in Dye at all. I didn't want Dye over Nady: my point is that it wouldn't have been the end of the world if they had gotten Dye on the cheap for a support role.
  22. Nobody is supporting the idea of playing Dye fulltime. OK, that one dude was. The rest of us were discussing the idea of him in a platoon with Fukudome or off the bench against lefties, so don't freak out too much. Again, though, with the age and injury history of our outfielders (specifically Soriano), there's a better than average chance that Dye would get every day playing time for at least a period of time. Then sub Fuld & Hoff for the injured Soriano and keep Dye in a platoon/bench role. Is it ideal? Hell no, but it's not the end of the world if Dye was signed on the cheap as a platoon/backup/bench guy. He's still useful if used correctly.
