  1. There aren't any pitching mechanics that are "good for your arm." It's difficult to judge what ultimately put Prior in condition he's in now since he had to continually adjust and tweek his approach to deal with the injuries from the in-game accidents as well as the overuse and the achilles issues. He was basically a perfect storm of crappy, crappy circumstances for a pitcher.
  2. I'm not sure why people are acting like Prior comparisons are a bad thing. Sure, the "perfect mechanics" hype was overblown with Prior, but his fate ultimately was due to the relatively unusual in-game injuries he suffered as opposed to issues with his mechanics. Unless comparisons to Prior also somehow mean that Strasburg will also get clobbered on the basepaths and take a line drive off the elbow, such comparisons are generally a good thing.
  3. So can you at least link me to this story since you're so sick of it?
  4. Well yeah, some of the media has been extreme, namely Kaplan and Sullivan. But it wasn't just being rude. I don't get the point in trying to pretend it was just harmless silence. It's easy to "get;" I didn't hear of anything that seem to go beyond him refusing to talk to the media or cutting interviews short. If more happened, hey, I'm wrong. My post was based on the extent of what I knew. I have no idea why you assume everyone is versed on the details of Bradley's relationship with the sports media. I figured if something actually serious or unusual had occured we would have heard about it.
  5. Yeah, but who ever said he wasn't a jerk? I just think it's ridiculous for some to act like it was some kind of ordeal, especially for the media. I mean, what was he doing to them? Being rude? Eh, tough [expletive].
  6. there was that one time in KC where he stormed up to the booth after that radio guy or whatever Sure, but what does that have to do with his time as a Cub and dealing with the Chicago media? Besides, it's pretty clear that the talk of "the media" in this thread has been in reference to sports journalists and reporters and not play by play guys. It seems like the general extent of his "negative" treatment of the media was not talking to them most of the time. Hell, it seems like the general extent of the Bradley "ordeal" overall was him not talking to people. Oooh, scary. It's a miracle anyone got through such a terrible time. Thoughts and prayers. I'm not sure how that is your interpretation of Bradley. It was clearly much more than just ignoring people. With the media? I readily admit I could be wrong, but I don't recall anything about how he "treated the media poorly" while he was here outside of typically not wanting to talk them or cutting interviews short. Never have I said Bradley wasn't an [expletive]. Being an [expletive], however, is not a reason to trade someone and make a team significantly weaker.
  7. I'm sorry, but your standards are insanely high if you think there are many other hitters in baseball right now who are better than Adrian Gonzalez. With Lee in the system as a SS prospect, I wouldn't mind if the Cubs did ponder the idea of involving Castro as part of a deal for Gonzalez, if they were also intending to open up the wallets and pay what it would take to keep him here for the forseeable future.
  8. This is what I'm curious about. Has there been any talk or articles about whether or not Aramis will excercise his $15 million option? Would he make that much in the open market? I think there's a good chance he would, especially from AL teams looking for a DH. I could see both the Yankees and Red Sox being very interested in him for that role. I am in no way willing to let Aramis go simply because the Cubs have Vitters. Vitters is pretty [expletive] far from being a sure thing. I would be more than willing, however, to let Aramis go as part of a larger rebuilding process. It's simply being realistic to look at the Cubs shot at winning the WS with their current core as near being closed, if it's not already. I love Aramis as a Cub, but it's just smarter to not spend the money to bring him back given his age and his injury history and since he could net you a very nice return if you can trade him if an understanding is reached that he'd opt out and the Cubs will be looking elsewhere.
  9. Almost all of this seems at least partly wrong. Yeah, I'm not even a fan of Martz and that seems like a really, really skewed take on history.
  10. I hope they let Lee walk after his deal up and that they let Ramirez do the same if he opts out. Ideally, I hope they can reach an agreement with both to be able to trade them before their deals are up despite the NTC's.

  12. How did Bradley "treat the media badly?"
  13. Is there a way I can sort the players from a particular year by position? Like, if I wanted to see all the 1st basemen from a particular season who had at least 120 starts, is that do-able? I've been working with their search engines and all of the options it offers but can't seem to quite sort it as such.
  14. Why does Lee need to shut up?
  15. Congratulations on making up what's going on here so you don't have actually formulate some kind of response. Where is anyone "defending" Bradley? Taking issue with your ridiculous description of his time here as being "excruciating" is hardly defending him. Nobody is sitting here saying that Latham is "awesome" and "deserves all the love and attention in this forum." Nobody is coddling anyone. You're being unreasonable and unrealistic.
  16. Racism doesn't mean what you think it means.
  17. Yeah, no.
  18. Oh, for [expletive]'s sake. Yeah, I'm sure it was just complete agony for you. It speaks volumes about your character that you were able to get through such a horrendous ordeal.
  19. No, it is all doom and gloom. The Bulls are all terrible and we should kill ourselves the next time they lose.
  20. What the [expletive] are you babbling about? There's nobody here that wouldn't be happy if Shark turned into at least a useful pitcher.
  21. In those scenarios, yes, the Cubs are likely fucked regardless of who they toss out there, but Marshall is a perfectly serviceable 4th or 5th starter. I don't see why anyone would be bemoaning Marshall himself as a starter (as opposed to bemoaning the situation that put him there).
  22. It's unfortunate, but not surprising. Just get what you can out of him.
  23. please explain I literally mean "looks."
