  1. He's right. Lee's ass is amazing.
  2. Exactly. It's very smart on the NBA's part because it basically gives them a second mini season that draws in a lot more people who don't follow the regular season all that much.
  3. LONG PLAYOFFS RULE.
  4. Good Lord, just when I think Kaplan can't get any worse...
  5. Why the crap are we talking about the Rockets.
  6. Those people are jerks.
  7. And thank God they did.
  8. For me, if I enjoy a sport, I don't give a crap how long the playoffs take.
  9. I can only assume you're also not a fan of college basketball. Umm March Madness lasts 1 month and no where near half the teams make the tournament. It still takes a long-ass time and there's still an absurd amount of teams competing. I have no idea why one would expect that the time span for playoffs must occur within a certain amount of time. Why is one month OK, but over one month is not? Yeah, over half the teams in the NBA make the playoffs, but how is that so much worse than wading through 65 teams in a tournament, which is soon going to be expanded to nearly 100?
  10. I don't see why you feel the need to state the obvious: nobody is arguing he's off to a good start. It's just stupid to boo him essentially every time he's going to make an out or any time a hit is made to LF. You guys are the ones who insinuated they were booing in inappropriate situations. I don't agree with booing, but they aren't just booing in the 1 out of a 3-4 day as was mentioned. If you feel I'm just stating the obvious then that means you disagree with your own words. Uh, my point has obviously been that he's basically being booed every single time he makes an out and every time a hit is made to LF in addition to the times when he actually does screw up. I never said that he was only being booed when he "shouldn't" be. Come on, that's a ridiculous thing to argue. Nobody was even hinting at that.
  11. Obviously, similarity scores aren't the end-all-be-all, but I do get a kick out of seeing BR's list for Bonds after Magdal's rant: # Willie Mays (762) * # Hank Aaron (748) * # Babe Ruth (738) * # Frank Robinson (725) * # Ken Griffey (679) # Mel Ott (666) * # Rafael Palmeiro (642) # Ted Williams (608) * # Jimmie Foxx (604) * # Dave Winfield (584) Hell, just go by his numbers through '98 if one wants to get an idea of how good a hitter he was: .290 .411 .556 .966 164 (with 411 home runs)
  12. I can only assume you're also not a fan of college basketball.
  13. I don't know about THE best, but Bonds was clearly one of the best hitters the game ever saw.
  14. Kosuke last April: .338 .461 .592 1.052 May: .277 .415 .415 .830 July: .307 .392 .534 .926 August: .287 .398 .506 .904 He was pretty bad in June and September, but it's not like he fell off of a cliff after last April for the rest of the year

  16. If there was no bounce back once they got healthy then it would mean that they had a crappy team and they traded away the key talent they had, which is absurd.
  17. John Salmons has been the 2nd best shooting guard in basketball since the trade. Yes, better than Kobe, Roy, and Joe Johnson. He's been outrageously efficient on the Bucks and led them on a huge run. And he was largely craptacular with the Bulls this year. Holding onto him wouldn't have overcome Rose, Noah, Deng, Kirk and Taj all missing time (with the first 3 missing significant time and often at the same time). But please, explain why FA's will only focus on when the Bulls were struggling because they were beset with injuries as opposed to their 10-4 run to make the playoffs.
  18. Yeah, it was the trades that made them struggle as much as they did. Not the injuries to every single key member of the team. It was the crippling trades of John Salmons and Tyrus Thomas! Oh, the horror! It's a miracle they were able to go 10-4 at the end without those titans of basketball.
  19. He couldn't pick up the ball after a double by Weeks which allowed a run to score, and he misplayed a ball off the wall badly, allowing extra bases to be taken. Wait, wait, wait, wait...he didn't allow a run to score off the Weeks hit. Yes, it allowed Weeks to turn his easy double into a triple, but the two guys already on base were scoring based on where the ball was hit regardless of whether he picked it up right away. Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. Between how long he took to get to the ball and then dropping it once he did, I think he gave Bush a much, much better chance to score at the very least. IMO, if Sori gets to that ball quickly and gets it to the IF, the runner doesn't score from first. I'm not a Sori hater, but it was a bad play for multiple reasons. I completely disagree. Nobody is getting that runner out or holding him to 3rd based on where that ball ended up unless the OFer is incredibly fast, agile (ie - an exceptional fielder) and has Soriano's cannon of an arm, and even then it would be iffy.

  21. ? Basically talking down how much booing he's getting. Ah gotcha. The boo'ing is out of hand already with Soriano, and its not going to get any better. It really is a joke when Soriano could go 3-4 with 3 RBI's but let him strike out that 4th at bat and the idiots at Wrigley will be boo'ing. I "get" when people boo him if he has one of his outfield screw ups or if he has a game where he keeps coming up in key situations and does nothing, but it's gotten to the point where he's booed for almost every out he makes or or almost any hit to LF. It's just stupid.
  22. Right. Caridad has a decent chance of being useful out of the pen. They just need to work through these growing pains.
  23. There are. Lou doesn't know how to use them. Caridad, for example, would be very useful when our starter has just given up a slam and we're now down by 10. I sincerely hope they're not that short sighted regarding him. Giving up on young pitchers because they initially struggle in the bullpen isn't going to help the team.
  24. How is pointing out how relatively quickly he runs hot and cold over players a personal attack?
  25. ? Basically talking down how much booing he's getting.
