  1. Never said that. What I did say is that I think you're definitely overstating how much "hatred" is out there, or incorrectly perceiving making fun of a team and its fanbase as hatred too often.
  2. So people hate the Cubs because they have a lot of fans?
  3. So Soto is on pace for, what, about 110 starts this year?
  4. I think it's overstating it a bit much to call it all "hate." Most of it is just making fun of the team/us. It's like saying people hate the Royals or the Pirates or the Orioles because they're so easily mocked.
  5. Nah. It's more that it's just so easy to make fun of the Cubs.
  6. Soto sitting is so [expletive] stupid. They just had an off day on Monday, he's likely to not start this Sunday since it's a noon game after a 6 PM game the night before, then probably the same deal next Wedensday AND an off day on Thursday. There's plenty of opportunities coming up in the next 10 days to sit Soto where it makes sense, so why do it tonight? Do they really think he can't handle 5 days of starting in a row with 3 days on the bench or off in the week to follow?
  7. Wow, the Mariners are in bad, bad shape if this part of the article is actually true: Bradley's last 7 days: .235 .278 .294 .572 The last 14 days: .286 .355 .393 .748

  9. I'm not saying that a ton of people are sitting around with active vendettas against Bartman, but you bring him or 2003 up to the average Cubs fan and sit back for some hilarious tantrums.
  10. Theriot Byrd Lee Soriano Soto Ramirez Nady Baker
  11. I'm sure theres still a good few out there considering the size of the fan base, but I believe most are over it and there would be no harm in him showing up in public to a game or something. From my experience it's the very casual fan that brings it up any more like it's some relative story. Most of the fanbase is made up of casual fans.
  12. As many Cubs fans as there are that realize that Bartman ultimately isn't to be blamed for '03, there's probably even more that still hate him and think he's some kind of super villain. I think we'd be giving the majority of a very large fanbase too much credit otherwise.
  13. So then if those don't count, then it's not an issue of the "most enjoyable playoff run in 102 years" then since there weren't playoffs during that whole time. Can't have it both ways.
  14. Wait, all of the last 102 years? That was better than the 7 times during those years that they actually made it to the WS? In UMFan's defense, there were no playoffs for any of those. They simply won the league and went to the WS. BACK WHEN MEN WERE MEN.
  15. Wait, all of the last 102 years? That was better than the 7 times during those years that they actually made it to the WS?
  16. GOOD READ? YES, I ENJOYED IT.
  17. Poor Bartman. Good read, though. I'll be curious to see the 30 for 30 doc on him.
  18. I think experience is the key on both sides here. If you have stars who are experienced then they can overcome a bad/inexperienced coach. I don't have anything against VDN; this was just a matter of terrible timing to have this type of team and a young, first time NBA head coach. Too many times we saw horrible, horrible plays, especially at the end of close games, that were clearly coming from VDN and the key players either weren't good enough or not experienced enough to overcome that. That's not all on VDN, but he's a huge part of stuff like that and has to go.
  19. Not sure if you are responding to me but who is freaking out over Vinny? Every single Bulls fan for the better part of the last 2 seasons. Because he sucked and didn't have a team good enough or stars experienced enough to overcome his suckiness?
  20. I think I've blocked out most of the season. I remember Soriano getting a bunch of clutch bloops, walkoffs and singles in the middle of season, but I honestly don't remember him having a hot streak in July. Weird. Wait, was that when he had the walkoff GS? Or was that 2008?
  21. I'm going to have to disagree. The guy sucked cold butt for a full year. There was plenty of reason to doubt whether he could return to his top form. Not a full year, but your point still stands. He finished the year showing basically no signs of improving. then spring training plus the first two weeks of this season (or thereabouts). Actually, it was basically all of April, which is why I was so let down with what was to come because he got off to a fantastic start. Though he pulled this off in July, .345 .409 .583 .992 with 5 doubles, 5 HR's and and 16 RBI's, yet I don't remember that at all.
