Pretty obvious the plan wasn't for him to only pitch to one batter in the 5th. How was it obvious? He threw three pitches. The fact that he started the inning makes it pretty clear Quade was trying to sneak one more inning out of him. Then he overreacted and yanked him after giving up a monster home run. One terrible manager decision begats another. I think i hate Quade. I think I agree.

Pretty obvious the plan wasn't for him to only pitch to one batter in the 5th. still makes it pretty dumb. if you want him to stay in the game then leave him in past that hitter, regardless of outcome. it shouldn't be "welp he gave up a home run, looks like he doesn't have it, better go to the pen." Hey, I'm not defending it. I think they should have either PH for him or let him finish the 5th.
