  1. It's just going to move the 5 spot back a day. They can't really skip it. The good news is that the 5 spot only has to pitch once in the next 2 weeks. When are Wells and Cashner due back? Haven't they just started a throwing regimen recently?
  2. As much as I want to like it from the sense of the old rivalry, this is not good for baseball at all. MLB really can't afford to have franchises like the Mets and the Dodgers this screwed up for a while with sales down across the board. Hopefully these situations get righted relatively soon.
  3. 4 game series in AZ Oh, nice! I was thinking they had all the Thursdays off this month.
  4. Ugh, I forgot that tomorrow is an off-day, too.
  5. If I had to guess probably something family-related. He doesn't have a history with any social anxiety stuff, does he? If not, wouldn't it be unusual for something like this to show up this late in his career/life?
  6. The concern I have with Soto is that he appears to be one of those hitters that naturally hits into bad luck. It could be because he doesn't really have the ability to hit to all fields very well which makes him easy to defend against. He's also slow which hurts. His BABIP is low compared to his LD percentage but it's not that extreme. He's also hit 5 pop ups so far which is really bad this early. Soto has looked better when applying the eye test but he's really going to have to start hitting for some more power to really be productive and most of his bad luck has been on balls that would have been singles otherwise. I'm still willing to bank that 2008 and 2010 are closer to the "real Soto" than 2009, especially given how that's a much better alternative than Byrd even at his best.
  7. No, those would be GREAT things.
  8. Yup. Soto's hitting the ball on the screws and is just hitting into some real bad luck. Soriano is in somewhat the same situation, but even with his flaws he's actually producing runs. Like it was said, Byrd is just flailing away. Soto is much better bet to start hitting sooner, and he's just better at the plate. Put him between Aramis and Castro and I could see it leading to good things.
  9. Really? He's a rightie, so I have no idea why you'd start Baker against him, much less in the #3 spot of all places.
  10. He'll get one tomorrow. Has Quade batted Aramis #3 at all this year? No, and he's not going to. He said Aramis at #4 is the only spot in the batting order that is set in stone. What a jerk.
  11. He'll get one tomorrow. Has Quade batted Aramis #3 at all this year?
  12. Alright, each time I've predicted a win this season they've lost, so I'm gonna say that the Cubs lose, 6-3.
  13. Soriano homered last night, right? Yup. Guess even Bruce had tuned out by then. Though it's much more likely WSR somehow screwed that up.
  14. What a silly kerfuffle!
  15. Seems like a big ol' hullabaloo over a bunch of flim-flam!
  16. Yeah, no. There's really no American player saying/doing that who wouldn't come across like an ignorant moron.
  17. But calling a Latin American player an animal and throwing banana chips at him while you do = not a jerk.
  18. Jesus get a [expletive] clue. I said earlier that I wouldn't have chosen the term savage. That doesn't change the fact that you are totally misusing it. How am I "misusing" it? I explained how the video of a player pissed at an ump don't stack up to the definition that you posted, and Scott's use of it makes him sound like an ignorant fool.
  19. Alrighty I'll put you in the savage = cannibal camp too So you were posting the definition to show that you're idea of "savage" is wrong and ridiculous? Because otherwise that post made no sense.
  20. So presumably he's looking down on guys when benches clear or mounds are charged or people celebrate a walkoff win...unless it's involving a team locked in a division/WC/postseason race. Or maybe they're just ALL savages.
  21. Nope. Every so often you'll get a real nutjob in baseball like Bradley. Most of the time, however, it's just jocks venting by throwing a hissyfit and putting on a show for the fans and their teammates to either act tough or try to distract from how they just screwed up. That said, even someone like Bradley isn't a "savage." Civilized people fight and throw fits and rant and so on all the time. It can, and often is, a sign if immaturity or even mental illness, but to make the huge leap that someone throwing a tirade in a sports game is somehow suddenly a "savage" or an "animal" and divorced from civilized humanity is absurd, especially when it's coming from an birther oaf like Scott chucking banana chips at a young Hispanic player and talking about him like he's some kind of misbehaving pet.
  22. There's really no reason to rush Jackson. Sure, if he's just ripping it in the minors and Byrd still sucks and we're deep into the summer but the Cubs are actually in it, OK. Otherwise Byrd is only here 1 more year and is very affordable. Might as well play him if he can bounce back and wait until September to bring up Jackson and then trade Byrd in the offseason (unless a team is really coveting him before the deadline).
  23. Only problem is Soriano also is not doing well. Now 5 for his last 32 and sporting a .235 batting average and getting on base at a .258 clip. He's still a better run producer right now than Byrd and Pena. Wouldn't be opposed to something like this at all: Fukudome Castro Aramis Soto Soriano Pena Barney Byrd Until Pena heats up.
  24. This Pretty much. Quade is really doing his best to show he's a typically crappy MLB manager. Can they just offer him his old job as back and hire a major league manager? Under better management, this team wouldnt be great, but theyd have a chance to be decent. I said "typically crappy" for a reason. Most MLB managers stink.
