Nah. At this point, Bryce Harper wouldn't have us much more ahead in the race. brantley (2 years, $32 million) is hitting .329/.379/.575 and has already been worth 1.8 war. there were relievers available, too. Sorry; it was apparently Harper or nothing.
Yes, I wanted them to put the guy who couldn't even horsefeathering pinch hit on the 10 day IL. It's not like the guy has a track record of nagging back issues that the Cubs take their sweet time in trying to deal with or anything. But sure, he's in the lineup today, so that must mean he's fine and he will not end up on the IL anyway.
Huh? If you are saying we need Ian Happ up for Addison Russell, fine. That's not what I'm saying. Neither should be. He should definitely be up instead of Russell, and arguably over Almora, or to put Bote or Descalso on IL. All of this is obvious.
In one sentence you recognize this a known issue (and as such, you would think you also remember how the Cubs have arguably mishandled it), and then immediately flip around to just out of nowhere assuring everyone it's all going to work out within 24 hours. Y'know, because it will simply work out just because because they've won 2 of 3.
Yes, I would have preferred someone who, if need be, could actually contribute, however unremarkably, in some way, shape or form to a baseball game being played.
Yeah, but the dumb part is how regardless of that they've basically just been carrying a dead weight roster spot on a beat up team with a guy who can't even PH.
Whoops; didn't even notice that. Work internet is VERY unreliable today; basically every page I have open just hangs for minutes at a time trying to load.
