    Yeah, it's great, but it's not why I'm a fan. I'm a fan of the end product. I'm old and cranky and set in my ways, so wake me up when the team doesn't stink.

    It would be nice to think that with Castro/Rizzo/Castillo/Barney/fountain of youth Soriano in the lineup they'd actually make an effort to not suck next year.

    What can I say? I also can't stand college sports for similar reasons; once they get to the pros, great. Before then I can't muster much beyond a passing interest. Before I came here and could follow the minor league forum I basically paid zero attention to the minors unless we're talking someone like Prior. I really just don't care because most of them amount to zilch.

    I don't care in that I find them really, really, really boring. I appreciate the process and the hoped for end result, but I'm not going to pretend that I find it anything but tedious.

    For me it's because I'm a fan of the Cubs. I honestly don't give a damn about the drafts and the prospects and the farm teams. I understand the importance and hope to God this works out, but the process is [expletive] unbearable and awful and the worst thing ever.

    Most of the draft picks will amount to [expletive], so whatever. Yes, I get the value of #2 over #5; it's still depressing as hell that this team is so bad and will be again next year and the end result is a collection of new players who will mostly fade away into the ether. I just want the small joy of watching them win a game right now.

    All of those players were younger than Soriano is now by at least 4 years when they were traded. Plus there are actually other options out there when it comes to OF FA, even with the FA class being pretty crappy overall. It's not that it's impossible to trade him, but it seems many are overstating how easy they think it is and how much the Cubs could get back.

    me too. In fact, I think I photoshopped the skyline view from cabrini at some point, but god knows where that is anymore. Yeah, that was one of the main reasons I wanted it there; whenever I've been to PNC I love the view from the stadium of the downtown area. Wrigley is basically facing the wrong way and has a wonderful view of the turds across the street and that's it. Plus you'd still have bus and train access and a revitalizing neighborhood and ideally Wrigleyville would drown under a tidal wave of frat puke.

    Man, that best of 19 World Series in 2003 would have been BRUTAL. 7 of those games came before the World Series, which is 7 more post season games than the Cubs won since Hendry went into spendthrift mode. The main thing separating Kenny Willians and Jim Hendry are 5 wins in 2003. Your posts are just torturous bits of anti-logic.
