  1. I want Cutler at $15-16 million or a franchise tag. Over $16 million let him walk. Just not worth it unless Jay leads the team to the NFC Champ game this year. Keep McCown as a backup since Jay is always hurt. Saying Jay has been outplayed this year doesn't mean I don't want him next year. But he has to put up better numbers these last three games. Having two QBs is a good problem to have. Both QBs can win Sunday. Even though I would play Jay Sunday if he can make all the throws, I'm just a little more confident with McCown. Jay isn't 100% and with this horrible Bears defense you can't turn the ball over. That has always been Jay's biggest weakness. And yet with Cutler and his weakness the Bears were still doing very well this year despite the defense. I just don't get why people talk like the team suddenly upgraded when McCown took over. Uh because they did in every offensive category for the time being? Well, except for scoring (except for that last game against the worst defense in the NFL).
  2. His Jealousy-Sense is tingling. Not be mistaken for Diva-Dar.
  3. I think you are forgetting that the Bears only had 4 wins when Cutler was injured, and now they have 7. Would you prefer a 4-9 record instead of 7-6? THE UNSTOPPABLE JUGGERNAUT.

  5. He had two bad passes. You can't hold Marshall and get in a position to make an interception and then say that was a bad throw. But yeah he had two bad passes. And his idiot play against Minnesota that cost us the game. Lets not forget that. Because that was as dumb a decision as you'll ever see. Was that not a "mistake", but a clever ploy to get Kyle Long a reception? Nor his inability to throw a TD in the red zone unless his receiver has nobody within 5 yards of him. And yet, when Cutler has good passes bobbled by Earl Bennett or deflected on a fluke and picked off, it's his fault. It's not Earl's fault that Jay throws too hard while McCown gently places the ball in his receivers' hands. With the softest touch of an angelic cherub. I heard Jay spits on the ball before he throws it and then laughs about it.
  6. He had two bad passes. You can't hold Marshall and get in a position to make an interception and then say that was a bad throw. But yeah he had two bad passes. Yup, just two bad passes. All those other games where they couldn't punch it into the endzone? Totally on everyone else.
  7. Wilson, I'm honestly curious...do you want the Bears to let Cutler go and stick with McCown next year? If so, do you view him only as a short term "bandage" option or do you think by some miracle Trestman has laid hands upon him and he's figured it all out at 34?
  8. Oh yeah, that's the stuff. http://media.tumblr.com/408ffb60319bbc5009735900170eb860/tumblr_inline_mi2txv0XYh1qz4rgp.gif
  9. He has the gift if the second sight and he threw those knowing they would not hold up, tricking the foolish into thinking he was just a mortal instead of a god.
  10. Link me to this post; I want to feel goooooooooood, baby.
  11. The difference between Lake and Starling Marte this year is basically 20 feet of batted ball distance and a contact advantage in Marte's favor. Of course, Lake is two years younger and despite scouts not caring for the swing their reports have been unanimous in his power potential, so the a 20 foot current gap is not an insurmountable number. Don't get me wrong, I don't love Lake as a difference maker (or Marte for that matter). But he's got plenty going for him -- some of the best raw tools in the game, age relative to league, etc... If he can take a step forward with his contact he can be great. Failing at that, if he can just string together a couple lucky BABIP years we can trade him to Kevin Towers for half his farm system. 20 feet is a HUGE number. I can't stress how big of a difference 20 feet is. Prince Fielder's distance dropped from 311 to 291 in the last 4 years and saw his HR total almost drop down by 20. Huh, I never thought to look at trends in batted ball distance, just always at trends in the power stats. Thanks.
  12. McCown not as good in the red zone? He's THROWN FOR THE SAME AMOUNT OF TOUCHDOWNS IN 3 LESS STARTS. Let's not go off the rails here. I don't know why the Bears lost to the Rams but it wasn't McCown's fault. and I already said that Cutler should start. But what McCown did in his stead was certainly more than "cromulent" "3 less starts" is some pretty loaded language given the amount of time he's actually played. You're ultimately talking Cutler having played, what, 6 more quarters? Everyone's happy with what he did, but some of us aren't letting a beast game against the league's worst defense skew the perspective. Cutler's the better QB and it's not like he wasn't also having success with the new offense before he was injured. If he's not hurt I want him in there and I'm more confident in his ability to offset the defensive liabilities.
  13. It's a Hulk-powered one.
  14. But hey, maybe they'll start giving out extra points if he keeps throwing for monster yards.
  15. "I'm not confident in a McCown-lead offense scoring enough to win" is a pretty clearcut argument.
  16. His DVOA is 6.5% while McCown's is 30.6%, tied with Aaron Rodgers for 5th among QBs this season. That doesn't really counter what Derwood is saying, plus DVOA doesn't really work like you seem to want it to. sure it does. MCCOWN HAS THROWN FOR LIKE 350 YARDS IN 3 STRAIGHT GAMES THAT'S INCREDIBLE. MY GOD, ONE WOULD EXPECT THE TEAM TO HAVE GONE BETTER THAN 2-2 IN THE LAST 4 GAMES AND MANAGED TO SCORE MORE THAN 21 POINTS IN ONLY 1 OF THEM, IT'S AS IF THEY ARE AN UNBEATABLE STEAMROLLER OF VICTORY.

  18. Yeah, Hanie was never the hot hand; he was only ever a monstrosity of necessity. I love having a backup like McCown, but I don't want to see him in there unless Cutler is hurt. Cutler has shown repeatedly he can lead this team to comeback wins, so even being behind isn't a reason to pull him.
  19. Plus McCown has basically been made by Alshon, and I would much rather see Alshon in beast mode with Cutler's sexy arm of power throwing to him. Basically we should be excited that we're going to see what they've been doing upgraded.
  20. Who has outplayed Cutler this year by a wide margin Not really, plus he's faced [expletive] defenses and he's an older backup QB. I don't get this "hot hand" crap at all; the guy hasn't been able to stick as a starter for a reason, and the odds of him keeping up this success can't be too good, especially if they make the playoffs. His "hot hand" could easily implode in less than a single game. I would think what the offense can do and has done would make wanting the better QB coming back all the more appealing instead of thinking, "nah, let's not rock the boat with this whole QB who was out of football a little while ago thing." Who cares that he's an older backup right now. Well, one would assume you'd want the better player to play, but silly me... So what? It's a miracle he's done what he's done and he should be applauded for it, but to act like he's a long term solution, even just for the rest of this season, when your started is healthy is absurd. This isn't some kind of Bledsoe/Brady situation, plus it's not like Cutler wasn't also clicking under the new coaching and with the new offense. QB rating? Really? Yeah, he's been lucky, especially since he's had some called back due to penalties. You really think that'll last, especially when he's facing better defenses? And Cutler has been annihilating Bears passing records his whole time here, so don't try to make it sound like they suddenly upgraded their passing game from something shitty. ... What? He's 2-3. Well, no; in the stats that matter they're actually pretty close, plus, again, McCown has mostly faced worse defenses. No, I would say "start the better starting QB instead of the older backup QB who has had a nice hot streak against some awful defenses and struggled brutally hard in the red zone until the last game."

  22. Holy [expletive], it's Josh [expletive] McCown and all I hear all day people are worried the bears won't go to him the moment Cutler doesn't look good. IT'S JOSH [expletive] MCCOWN.
  23. Thank you for making my night, BBB.

  25. Not really fair to just peg N&G for this...David is pretty aggressive about hating the Blackhawks/hockey as well. My "aggressiveness" in disliking hockey amounts to little more than taking shots at it here; it really isn't on my radar at all otherwise. I don't actively hate it like I hate college sports....that's a hate that burns bright and true.
