  1. Cards released Spiezio. The red soul patch looks really stupid now.
  2. D.J. White told the sports guy from WTHR that he would not say that it wasn't true.
  3. Does IU plan on beating a ranked team this year?
  4. Agreed. Rep. Burton's questioning of McNamee was just ridiculous. He had an agenda to pick him apart and did it in a dramatic fashion just to smear his credibility. He had no intention of getting to the bottom of the discrepancies. Roger appears to be full of it and now that the potential witness tampering has come out it just makes him look that much worse. Also the legal analyst on ESPN just said that it appears Republicans were siding with Clemens and Dems with McNamee and Mitchell report. I thought i was just blowing that out of proportion in my own mind. WTF is that about?
  5. They can win the damn big ten and the BTT and I won't call them the best team in the conference. Bitter much? Given that scenario who would be the best team in the Big Ten?
  6. Seconded.
  7. Its funny that Purdue took a page out of the UW book to beat them twice this season. They hustle, they're deep, they're versatile, don't make many mistakes, and they get in your face defensively. Seems like a team that will have trouble in a more closely called NCAA tourney game. They have a clear edge in the title race, being they only have 3 tough games left vs. MSU and on the road at IU and OSU. MSU has to go on the road to the other top B10 teams and has IU at home. Wisc. only has 3 more at home and 1 is MSU. IU has 5 tough games left, but 4 of them at are home. Purdue is gonna be a very touch matchup for IU, because they do a lot of the same things well that IU does well (shoot the 3, FTs, run the floor). The difference will be the major differences, Purdue's defense, IUs rebounding. I think it all comes down to the Calasan vs D.J. White match up. Can Calasan contain him defensively enough that he won't go nuts on the interior and can Calasan get his 3point shot going enough that it spreads IU's defense out? Calasan is no match for DJ. He does have some size, but he's weak on the boards, has no offensive game, and is foul prone. After him, their only "big" is 6'10", 210lb Johnson, who would get destroyed. I don't worry about a big man shooting the 3 with the zone we've been playing. In fact, I'd dare Calasan to shoot all night. I do worry about the slashing and them being able to get DJ in foul trouble on some help defense. Calasan does like to bang inside though. So we'll see how effective he can be. Calasan won't be shooting all night but he will be one of many 3 point threats on the floor.

  9. It was just a mere two weeks ago that IU fans were telling me that Purdue will get crushed in their only meeting this year. I think they're starting to sweat a little bit now. Maybe some were, I don't remember a whole lot of that on here. I entered the season thinking IU would be much better than Purdue, but they're obviously not at this point. Purdue is playing better than anyone in the conference. On your next post, using IU's close win against Illinois as proof they're not good is unfair. IU's not that good right now, but that was Illinois' game of the year. Probably every team in the nation would have struggled in that game. My point was that most good teams can struggle against a bad team from time to time.
  10. It was just a mere two weeks ago that IU fans were telling me that Purdue will get crushed in their only meeting this year. I think they're starting to sweat a little bit now. I still have a hard time buying into the Purdue thing since they struggled against my hawkeyes at Purdue, who are very bad. The same Hawkeyes that beat Michigan State. IU struggled at Illinois who are really bad too. Purdue did anything but struggle at Wisconsin. They are an extremely young team that has only lost once in conference play and that was at Michigan State by 3 points. If they beat the Spartans at Mackey this week and pull off a stunner in Bloomington next week they have a great chance at the Big Ten title.

  12. We might see a delay to the season if that happened.
  13. The obligatory all star for a team with Ryne Sandberg? There were a few years there when Biggio was good and you had Steve Sax and Tommy Herr displacing Sandberg here and there. Hell, if you listen to Joe Morgan, he may have still been playing in it those years. Sandberg was there every year from 1984-1993 So it definitely wasn't obligatory. I must be a bad Cub fan, I don't even remember Dunston in the AS game. One of his AS seasons was in 1990. AS game was at Wrigley that year.
  14. To answer your question with a question: If Theriot is the backup SS, who is the starter? I assumed they were going to try out Roberts and/or DeRosa there. Oh well, I'm not going to cry over this deal. I don't like the back end of the rotation though. Hopefully they can make a deal for another starter.
  15. Is this thing actually happening? If it does, who is going to be the backup SS? Does it kill the depth at the starter position? Wouldn't Theriot become the backup? No. I agree with the ugh sentiment. Why not? Who is IYO?

  17. I still shake my head at the fact that all we heard about Prior was how good his mechanics were and that he was not very likely to have injury problems because of them. Now he is one of the biggest health risks in the sport. It's just sad for both him and the Cubs.
  18. Mitchell's report exposes a "serious drug culture within baseball, from top to bottom," fingers MVPs and All-Stars and calls for beefed-up testing by an outside agency to clean up the game, The Associated Press learned. This kind of pisses me off. People try to act like baseball is the only sport that has a steroid problem. I'd like to see a steroid probe of the NFL. So, because the NFL also has a steroid problem that makes it not as bad for baseball? That is the problem with our society today, there is no accountability. Even if steroids, or HGH weren't banned by baseball, they certainly were a controlled substance in the U.S., so unless you were taking them under a doctor's supervision I think all these guys are getting off easy. That's my point. Everybody is standing up and pointing their finger at MLB and then turning around and ignoring the issue in the NFL. We have been hearing and will continue to hear how baseball is tainted due to the rampant drug use. All the while the NFL will carry on as usual without any questions asked. I'm glad this stuff is coming out in MLB. I would just like to see this kind of scrutiny across the board in other sports as well. It's not just baseball players that use performance enhancing drugs.
  19. Do these guys on the score even follow MLB? They butchered half of the names. "Paul" Mondesi, "Rick" Garces, etc.

  21. Would this explain Wood's new slender physique in 2007?
  22. I think his September performance can be summed up as pinch runner, pinch runner, pinch runner, pinch runner, pinch runner, pinch runner, good catch, pinch runner, pinch runner, pinch runner, pinch runner, great catch.
  23. Way to show the nation your ass OSU. Congrats Illini.
