  1. the reason it's gone unnoticed is because you failed miserably
  2. honestly i think the wings are the second best team in the west. if the sharks play like they should (which has pretty much always been their only problem in the post-season), i don't think anyone stacks up with them talent-wise. they don't have a weakness. i think you can point to a weakness on every other team. chicago has goaltending and defensive depth concerns. vancouver doesn't have good defensive defensemen. boston doesn't have much offense. pittsburgh has issues with scoring depth and goaltending. san jose is a complete package if they play like they should. they have top end talent, they have scoring depth, they have a good mix of defensemen, and they have goaltending. seems like they finally decided to show up this year.
  3. It's allowed all the time. no it isn't Okay, think that if you will, but it's true. Contact with the goalie happens all the time and is usually allowed. That's especially true when the puck is bouncing around in front of him and everybody is hacking at it. there's a pretty large difference between hacking at a rebound and forcing yourself to the net and being pushed into the goalie. goals are called back all the time for "incidental contact" and i thought it was more than that last night.
  4. It's allowed all the time. no it isn't
  5. it still shouldn't count. "incidental contact" isn't allowed either. regardless, i thought it shouldn't have counted last night, but it was irrelevant to the outcome of the game so whatever.
  6. it shouldn't have counted, but the ref missed it on the ice for whatever reason. maybe he thought the vancouver players pushed luongo into the net. goalie interference is not a reviewable play for some stupid reason, so whatever call is made in the ice is the one that counts. didn't really matter though.
  7. are they all crying conspiracy because of the last goal? i've talked to a couple of nuck fans and they seem legit pissed off about that even though it was completely meaningless toward the outcome of the game.
  8. today was like a complete reversal of game 1. niemi made crucial saves and the hawks finished on their early chances.
  9. Not just Howard, some of things we've seen happen never happened to past Wings teams. But, you've got to consider they're not those great Wings anymore, pretty close to average team now. i actually think they're the 2nd best team in the west. i also think the sharks really are THAT good, especially if that first line is actually going well. have i posted about my pool team? this is pretty funny i think. here's my roster: Ilya Kovalchuk Zach Parise Brooks Laich Tomas Fleischmann Anze Kopitar Shane Doan Brian Rafalski Nick Lidstrom Nik Kronwall Jack Johnson Jimmy Howard Martin Brodeur i was a kiss of death. sorry to fans of these teams, including myself.
  10. no it's not the same thing, i'm just saying that at one point it's going to bite you in the ass whether you deserve it at that particular moment or not. they're just going to be looking for it and they're going to be trigger happy. i think it's really, really poor by the nhl to start cracking down on certain things in the playoffs. i guess they're hoping the average american playoff hockey fan doesn't care how they call the game was called during the regular season. it seems the red wings are just the latest victim of the random crackdowns that have been implemented throughout the playoffs thus far.
  11. dives are really tough to call because you're asking the referee to determine intent and has to see the play perfectly with a billion things going on. i think it should be called after games, fine the players and suspend them if they become a problem. there was also a pretty brutal boarding call on marleau. it's not like the bad calls didn't go both ways, wings just came up on the short end tonight. they'll probably have a game when the calls will be heavily in their favor at some point in the next two. it sucks to go down 2-0 but the wings aren't out of it yet by any stretch either. if the calls continue to be bad then i guess you have a legitimate gripe. edit: also, i have trouble forgiving bad calls on wings goalie interference calls. if you're gonna play the way they play, with someone sitting on top of the crease on basically every shift, you're GOING to get calls against you. there's just no way around it. it sucks that they were bad calls, but i think you have to take the good with the bad in that instance. they have a reputation for it, just like the habs (and lapierre especially) have a reputation for diving and got bit by that.
  12. pretty bad reffing at both ends tonight. bad break for lidstrom on thornton's game winner (wait...wut).
  13. Bob's managed, and I'm sure he likes seeing guys who go 100% all the time. Maybe he sees that in Marlon. well, i mean, duh. that's not the point anyone is making though. bob says some pretty crazy stuff. i hope he never gets near our manager position.
  14. calling out a team for their "poor effort" is just lazy commentating. darren eliot sucks and sam rosen isn't good either. eliot WILL NOT SHUT UP EVER OH MY GOD WHY WON'T HE STOP TALKING issue tonight was inability to finish in the first combined with poor goaltending from niemi when the hawks really needed him to keep them in the game. oh, and brent sopel, but that's probably not a new thing.
  15. the flyers really didn't play poorly. the bruins aren't going to score 5 goals a game. they were outplayed for sure (esp. in OT), but they can still win this series.
  16. if the flyers steal this game that would be huuuuuuge
  17. popped up middle of the diamond and laroche ran into lopez... bases loaded why wasn't that infield fly rule? 1st and 3rd i think
  18. what the [expletive]?!?!? edmonton is in canada and kid rock is terrible. why would they do this? Just because Canadians are up north doesn't mean they can't be rednecks. alberta is pretty much redneck canada
  19. message board fans are insufferable almost by default. just look at this place. we're all terrible cub fans. hf is a cesspool. i can barely even go there any more and there's like nowhere else to talk hockey with a large community like that. not sure if that's where you went, but i can't imagine any group of fans being any better elsewhere.
  20. keith is going to win. green doesn't have a shot. too many people absolutely hate him. he'll be a distant third to doughty, i think.
  21. pens in 6, flyers in 7 (even with injuries), sharks in 7, nucks in 6 (sorry hawks fans)
  22. holy wow. as much as i really enjoyed watching the capitals and as much as i REALLY hate montreal, that was really fun to watch. in my playoff pool, i have 4 players left. none are forwards. they all play for detroit and 3 of them are defenseman. i think i might lose, what do you guys think?
