    Wilkerson does different things than Pierre and vice versa, that's why I said it was debatable at the end of my post. Personally, I'd say Wilk is a better hitter and probably get a lot to agree with me. Same could be said for Pierre I'm sure. I'd take Wilkerson because he gets on base and slugs better. Last year is a rough comparison because BOTH had down years.

    By that logic we should bat Derrek Lee first. He is the best hitter, so it should be best for the team if he gets the most at-bats. Just because one hitter is better than another, does not mean he will benefit the team more. Pierre has assets that are much more valuable to the Cubs than Wilkerson's. What are you talking about? That's not what I said at all. If you could get a better hitter in Wilkerson at the same price (I'm not saying you can, just saying IF you could) why not do it? Saying Pierre is a better fit over a better hitter is absurd. One being better than the other is debatable, but saying that a better hitter isn't a better fit is just dumb.

    I don't think Wilkerson would have cost much more, if at all more. In any case, how is a better hitter not a better fit for the team?

    the arguement is pointless. The title had poor capitalization. Well, not poor, just not how I've been taught since I was 5 years old. It just bothers me when there are that many, albeit small, mistakes in one article.

    Agreed. I have a vision of Patterson becoming great somewhere else. Somewhere else. Not here. Trade him before his value drops any further. At least now you can still see that he has tools and some talent. If he has another bad or awful season, or a season in which he doesn't play, he'd barely get a bucket of balls in return.

    What if Pie fails? I'd rather get someone to play RF, have a backup, and Pie as an emergency. Pie should only start this year if he absolutely has to.

    He won't be closing this time around though. Set up at best unless he has a monster spring/start to the season. Turnbow was great last year.

    according to some reports, we're the front runners. I don't know if those reports were pre or post pierre trade though.

    Homers aren't the best way to judge power. Slugging pct. There's a winner. The best leadoff hitter in the AL last year was Brian Roberts, who put up a 515 slg pct. Damon was at 439. Jeter was at 450. Ichiro was at 439. Sizemore was at 484. Pierre was at 354.

    But to say he is deficient in no aspect of the game is a lie. His power is deficient, plain and simple. Not saying that it's a bad thing necessarily, but it's something he's deficient at. Or maybe he's deficient at stealing bases. There's one.

    I think I figured out Coletti's affection for IFs. He was one in Little League. All the OFs made fun of him for being a bad 2B, so he's giving EVERY IF a chance. Lets get Bradley for Walker.

    If he has any clue about how best to maximize the lineup, then it should be Murton. so... basically what you're saying is Murton bats 7th next year. 8th. Definitely. Gotta maximize that 8th spot. It's a weakness in most other lineups, but in the Cubs lineup? It's as good as a solid 2hole hitter. well, at least he's setting the table for Z and Prior. :lol: I think I figured out his reasoning for batting Macias and Perez 1 and 2 whenever he did. He wanted the best hitting pitching staff in the league, RBI wise. His thinking will be figured out eventually, but we have made great strides today.

    Okay. Say they get Mueller. Then they'll have Soriano, Kent, Furcal, Izturis, Mueller. Then all they need to do is sign Nomar and trade for Walker and they can be the all-IF team.

    No. No no no. I don't want to give something up for him. Especially with Cedeno. Plus, if we're shooting for a fielder, Neifi can catch the ball already :lol:

    Well I guess this limits the oppurtunity of Walker being included in a deal for Bradley.
