  1. I'm pretty sure that Paul Depodesta is available. good. i think depo deserves another chance. his replacement in LA is going to get all the credit for his team too.
  2. i didn't really see the fight. I saw a big guy throwing downwards, so I imagine he was pummeling whoever he was fighting. i was laughing the whole time. being my first trip to wrigley, I told my dad to take a picture of the scoreboard before we blew it in the 9th. ahahahahahhha. dempster looked horrible. zambrano was great. just electric stuff. his home run made the crowd cheer as loud as they did when ARam or when Lee homered the next night. it sucked to see ronny miss that ball. i hate to see him make mistakes. i don't want one mistake to ruin his psyche or whatever.
  3. At the game on tuesday night a guy walked around with a fire dusty sign in the second inning but disappeared after that. got quite a few cheers from the crowd.
  4. Dodgers. like was said earlier, thanks to Kemp and Billingsley. Mostly Billingsley. OH! And Vin Scully.
  5. I do, obviously, that's why I posted about it. It bothers me when people can't spell a simple name. Especially a former GM that actually GM'd in the same division as Derrek. Like I said, it bothers me.
  6. it just bothers me because i've seen so many people do it (derek, derrick, derreck). I don't get what's so hard about spelling a name correctly. If it was Mientkiewicz or something, fine. But Derrek? Ugh. Just a pet peeve. It's not spelled correctly so often because it was poorly spelled by his parents. Blame them. Derek is how you spell Derek in America. If you want to spell it differently, expect mistakes. true, but it's not hard to spell regardless.

  8. does anyone else absolutely hate it when people who are supposed to be "in-the-know" misspell names?
  9. The Cubs are good at sucking and losing. juan pierre alone makes us the best team at grounding out to 2B. we're also tops at grounding out to the pitcher thanks to Speedy Juan Pierre. I wanted him to do so well... I feel bad for him almost.
  10. no, there'd be 7, but you would only understand 3.
  11. On that note, does anyone think the umpire helps dusty with double switches? "See, I want to move Murton to short." "Are you sure? I mean, he's kind of a butcher in left." "True, but I want his bat. Aw screw it, I want to take Murton out and...Freddie Bynum in left, but I want him to bat 9th. What do I have to do to do that?" "You have to take the pitcher out." "Aw shucks. But the big guy is pitching so well...he's got a no-hitter going...80 pitches through 8 1/3...meh, I'll do it. Can I bring in Remlinger?" "No. He's pitching for the Braves." "Dude, it's like I ain't catching any fish right now. How about Estes?" "I think he died or something; look, you have to bring in a pitcher from your team." "What's a team? Can Neifi pitch?"
  12. aaron gleeman is the man. go neifi go! bask in our misery!
  13. First off, I don't know how you can ask for consistency and then want carlos lee. second off, freddie bynum sucks, and he would be Matt's replacement. third off, despite the vast canyon between the batting averages of Jones and Murton, Murt STILL carries the higher OBP, which most people here place at a much higher premium than SLG or AVG. Fourth, he's cheap. Jones isn't, and he's here for a while.
  14. Owen's injury was pretty nasty-looking. My guess is torn acl/mcl/pcl or something of that nature.
  15. you know who has a really cool name? fausto carmona.
  16. he had some movement, but no no no location. everything was down the middle or 8 feet outside. his curveball looked decent after the first. i think he'll be fine eventually. hopefully will be healthy in time for 2007.
  17. meh, i've started watching dodger home games. Vin Scully is amazing. the cubs still catch my attention, though I watched more world cup than cubs today.
  18. woo, go cubs. get one for prior please. oh and prior, don't injure yourself.
  19. yeah, i'd take Danks over most positional prospects (any of the D'Backs OF prospects may be exception to this).
  20. the dodgers have a few former cubs to root for...but...kent... *sigh*
  21. Here's my not-so-interesting stat for the day: The CUBS are 0-1 when I choose golf over paying attention to them. Go CUBS !! I will not be golfing tomorrow as far as I know, so we're set. Those other games were just aberrations. Lots of aberrations. berra>
  22. Wood's done as a Cub, but I still have some hope left for Prior. When he blows out his arm in his next rehab start it will all be gone though. I like Marmol and Marshall (Marmol a little more) and hope both of them continue his success, but this is probably a little early to make that prediction. Before this year, Marshall had basically no time above A-ball, and Marmol is making the leap from AA. Though, I really love what both of them have been doing so far and hope they keep it up.
