  1. The real reason it's there is because Brent and Kirk will be doing the Ohio State/Iowa game.
  2. ND easily defeats Liberty and Ball State downs Eastern Illinois in their openers. Good to have college hoops back.
  3. I'm fairly sure there are some inaccuracies in there - the ABC picture for this week is more muddled than your average BCS computer poll - so if you know something different than what's there, post it.

  5. Speaking of huge hits to TCU, SDSU has cut it to 40-35 with 4:50 to go - plenty of time to get a stop and score again.
  6. TCU taking a huge hit today.
  7. That's what they get for backing out of a game at ND Stadium this year. This wouldn't have hurt their BCS numbers otherwise. That was a really, immensely satisfying win. I know Utah's not all that great, but playing with their 2nd team offense and after the worst back to back weeks in program history, it was sorely needed. Beat Army and make a bowl.
  8. Notre Dame is obliterating a horrible Georgia Southern team, shooting nearly 70 percent from the floor. 58-19 late in the first half.
  9. The AFL only existed for ten seasons before the merger though.
  10. 5-4 Pittsburgh leads the Big East and no one in the conference is bowl-eligible. Yet someone is going to end up playing in the Fiesta Bowl.
  11. Matt Moore, Dan Connor and Thomas Davis all go on IR. This team was bad enough without having to put a M*A*S*H unit out there. Clausen or Pike will start vs Tampa (as if that matters) and Armanti Edwards will probably be the emergency QB.
  12. It's exciting when Notre Dame plays a ranked team because I get to put them into the Top 25 tab.

  14. The Panthers have no quarterback. Both their RBs are injured. Steve Smith is no longer so good that he can be the team's only receiver and have that be ok. We are on pace to destroy the franchise record low for total offense.
  15. TCU and Auburn jump Boise in the coaches' poll, which now mirrors the BCS entering last week.
  16. WTF is up with Texas?
  17. I kind of love Jim Harbaugh. How nice it must be to have a coach that just wins. No gimmicky system, no need to wait years on end to fit guys into said gimmicky system - just gets guys with talent and wins with them. Pro-style, spread, option, whatever, Stanford can do any of it and do it well. If he coached UM with the kind of players they can get, like Hawkeye said, look out.
  18. The Cotton Bowl is now in Cowboys Stadium while the actual Cotton Bowl hosts the Dallas Football Classic. Bowls are stupid.
  19. Actually, I got a pamphlet from USC my senior year of high school and since I wanted to do broadcasting really considered applying. When I found out how expensive it was I never did but I always wondered what it would've been like to go there.

  21. on the flip side, how did Penn State's anemic offense and terrible O-Line win a shootout with Michigan? I didn't see a single snap of the game That's easy. They ran 35 counter plays that Michigan got faked out on every time. Then they ran 15 rollout passes that saw every Penn State receiver open by 15 yards. Your walk-on QB had over 250 yards passing. I'm recording ESPNU's replay tonight. I'll be interested to see if PSU can build on this Build on what, destroying one of the worst defenses in Division 1? It looks like Purdue is Michigan's only hope for getting bowl eligable. (which I predicted when we were 5-0 ;)) At least you just need to beat Purdue. ND would have to beat Army and at least one of USC and Utah to get to play in the GoDaddy.com Motor City Bowl of Living Hell or some such crappiness.
  22. I decided not to try and get up early and watch the Panthers after getting back from work at 7:30 am. Looks like a good call. Now that they got their win they're just another bad team to me.
  23. Unless something historically awful were to happen, like a 2-win season next year or something, he will get at least 3 years. But he has lost much of the fan base, including me, completely in the last 8 days. BS. If he wins 9 games next year, you'll be back. so will most the woe is me fan base. There's no way to know how many years Kelly will get at this point. How much deeper down the rabbit hole will UM go with Rich Rod before pulling that plug? If he wins 9 games next year, great. I always want Notre Dame to win. But I won't believe that him winning big is going to happen until I see it - and I don't think I'm going to see it.
