  1. Unfortunately, Theriot was a much better hitter in the minors once he dropped switch-hitting.
  2. I really wanted the Bears to draft him, I remember.
  3. Of course it's low. Everything he hits goes out of the park.
  4. Or Garza and Choo. I'll take Cubswin's guys. I'd rather just have Cano. But I don't think it's realistic he leaves the Yankees.
  5. Or Garza and Choo.
  6. Hasn't he been trying to learn a cutter?
  7. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p228/irish1289/img7722290.jpg
  8. Wasn't Concepcion removed prior to the season?
  9. I think so. He could still be a 4th outfielder, but you don't keep guys on the 40 man with that type of ceiling and the depth that the Cubs have in their farm system.
  10. There is no point unless you're getting both Skaggs and Bradley, in my opinion.
  11. What would it take? If it's salary relief they want, we just saved a nice chunk of change on Soriano. As far as player/prospect return, we certainly have more moveable assets than the Angels. I like these types of moves. Similar to when MacPhail picked up Rondell White at the deadline when the team was out of it. I'd like to see them go after Tommy Hanson too.
  12. Obviously you hope he can get the K's down as he adjusts and all, but it seemed like a decent comparison. I'd take it. The question is whether Baez would go through similar struggles to Alvarez when he comes up to the majors.
  13. I hope he is right. Because that means he feels that strongly about the potential of Bryant even after the accomplishments thus far of Almora, Baez, and Soler. If he is right the Cubs have as strong of an argument for the best farm system in baseball as anyone. He's a big fan of Bryant:
  14. He has been awful for years. And how much pitching do the Sox really have after they trade Peavy? Chris Sale. Hector Santiago, too.
  15. If the Twins offer Buxton and Sano for Shark....I do that deal in a heartbeat. I want Smardzija to remain a Cub but those two are blue chip, grade A prospects. No way the Twins make that deal. And Samardzija is already a top end MLB talent with 2 (I believe) years of team control after this one. Are you seriously questioning trading Samardzija for the two best prospects in baseball?
  16. Since he clearly mastered KC...
  17. If only we had Albert Pujols. Although we do have Junior Lake....
  18. It was hardly a fluke. The next year in AA he went .287/.351/.475. And he didn't exactly come out of nowhere. He was signed for a 2.25 million bonus out of the DR, which was a record at the time.
  19. This is where I am with Baez as well. I don't think it's nitpicking to be extremely concerned with the BB/K ratio at this point, but the power is unbelievable. But the concern is (and should be) very real. We've seen this story before: Player A (age 19 at high A & AA): .297/.341/.540 34/122 BB/K ratio (133 games) Player B (age 20 at high A & AA): .265/.327/.556 27/110 BB/K ratio (96 games) Player A is Joel Guzman. He was ranked the #5 prospect and was out of MLB by 2010 at the age of 25. Player B is Baez.
  20. The two "woulda, coulda, shoulda" moves that have been available to us, that needed to happen were that([expletive] you Dempster) and Puig. Darvish Yep. Having Darvish, Samardzija and Delgado at the top of the rotation would be pretty good right now.
  21. I'd still really like to see them get Choo. I know he'll be 32 when the contract starts, but I think his skill set should age pretty well, to the point where he'll be pretty productive for 4 years of that contract.
  22. Well, if we're already going to hit the maximum penalty, we might as well go all out and sign a few more guys.
  23. No, I disappointed that they didn't get a better prospect in the deal. I don't know what the other options were though, or if there were any other options. For all we know, there may not have been any other options. Soriano could choose where he wanted to go.
  24. Yeah, the game I was talking about, I believe was his 1st loss, in extra innings vs. the Brewers. I may have been at his debut too, don't quite remember though. The best part of that game was the Baseball Tonight following the game, when Kruk and Harold Reynolds said Wellemeyer could end up being better than Prior, Wood and Zambrano.
