  1. I know I'm forgetting some names, but Adam Archaleta, Orlando Pace come to mind as Lovie having had big input in the past about bringing guys in to play his scheme yet they've failed miserably. We're now looking at most likely a new Lovie handpicked OC to start the season and another round of Lovie player evaluations. There isn't a coach in the league that does not have a say in player acquisitions and drafting. Also lets take a look at how many .500 teams this year the Bears have beaten. One, and that was Indy in week 1. We're bum beaters this season.
  2. I would argue that you can use this against Lovie either way. If the Bears have had talented teams since 2006 like some people would say, then Lovie should have fared better against .500 or better teams. If the Bears have had a big talent gap since 2006 you can then tack that on Angelo AND Lovie since GM and Coach are usually tied together when it comes to drafting and talent evaluation. I think this team also suffers in player development, as well as gameday management. There are very few positives to keeping Lovie Smith as your head coach. We know what he's going to bring to the table and it frankly isn't enough.
  3. Paea, Wootten, Conte, Jeffrey etc are 'impact talent'? They're young pieces that can possibly be good players, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. The franchise has done nothing to fix our biggest of problems and our two best offensive players we've had to acquire via trade. Lovie has a horrible track record against top rated teams and his record after trailing in first half is abysmal. He's a horrible talent evaluator and his lack of success should move him into the hot seat, especially with our team in a current free fall. He has yet to manage our offensive situation as a team properly. I think he's feeling the pressure too. Have you heard his recent press conferences? He's showing signs of cracking.
  4. I'm ready for Lovie to be fired. I want to cheer on this team but I think we simply don't have what it takes to win a Superbowl this year. So in that case I'm torn as I think rooting for Lovie to fail would mean a better chance of success in the short and long term.
  5. Yea, I haven't even seen him on the field.
  6. I'd move Roach over since I'd rather have him on the field when they go nickel instead of the #4 LB on the depth chart. This. Bears are mostly in a nickel alignment with 2 LBs
  7. I know he's been a little banged up but that Forte deal looks like bad money to me. He doesn't look like the same guy as last year
  8. Has anyone else heard the Bears songs Danny Mac has been singing on The Score? They're golden. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/tag/mcneil-and-spiegel-holiday-song/
  9. I think Free Agency this year is more important now then ever for this franchise. We have way too many needs to be filled by the draft. You need to get a quality Tackle in FA or a solid Tight End that will allow us more flexibility in the draft and properly fill out our needs. There are just too many critical positions on this team for the draft to keep us from going down next year with gaping holes.
  10. Behind OL and next to TE followed by WR/CB.
  11. Irvin is more of a third down pass rusher and a situational player in my eyes. I think Chandler Jones was the perfect fit as a 4-3 end. This just confirmed: Urlacher expected to miss the rest of the season with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-chicago-bears-brian-urlacher-hamstring-strain-20121204,0,882544.story
  12. I've liked what I've seen of Jeffery while he's been on the field. Me too, I'm just completely down on Shea being an impact type of player. You don't draft a DE in the first round as a situational third down rusher who doesn't project as a full time starter.
  13. Latest round of mocks at Walter Football has the Bears taking G/C Jonathan Cooper in the first round for the second straight week.
  14. There is the small chance that depending on the severity of Urlacher's injury he could have played his last game as a Bear. If he wants a nice big deal, he might as well walk. After re-watching Sunday's game, the linebackers looked old and the defensive line inexplicably couldn't maintain gap control which is a major coaching blunder. Tillman didn't look good. What hurts most is we are lacking youth on defense, talent on offense and last years draft did little to inspire faith that those draft selections are going to be major contributors moving forward that can rectify our problems. Can Brandon Hardin amount of anything other then a backup or special teams player? (extensive injury history, never played safety) Can Shea be a full time impact DE? (size and strength a real issue plus playing out of position). If not then why does Emery draft those players as projects?
  15. Outstanding addition to the booth. I love Len and I think this could be a great duo for years to come.
  16. As much as I think Gruden is a bozo, I'd love to see what he or Cowher would do with this team.
  17. His schtick is so corny and played out. He makes me miss Jaws.
  18. How has Riley Reiff and Jonathan Martin been this year?
  19. The Jay Cutler show was outstanding today. He talked about taking a hometown discount amount other things.
  20. Yes, but I think it's interesting that Wilson hasn't had a bad game since game 7, hasn't thrown an INT since game 8, and every game since #9 has posted an above-100 rating. I think Pete Carroll really has found his QB. The kid has been very good and it hasn't just been a game or two here & there. It's true he hasn't been posting a ton of yards but he has a shot at 3,000, his completion percentage is over 60%, he's quick as hell, and the TD/INT ratio is just fine. I'm angry about those last two drives, but it was against a pretty good player, as it turns out. We still need to get a stop regardless. A lot of defenses will struggle to stop Russell Wilson if he keeps playing like he has, that's for sure. I'm feeling a lot better today if he beat us with throws and passes more so then those scrambles on the final two drives. I'm willing to bet if we played him tighter and stayed committed to the lanes and gaps to stop him, he would have taken more hits resulting in a better outcome. We gave him the yardage way too easily.
  21. It seemed likely anyways. It's a shame he was having a down year before the injury Ryan Clady will surely be re-signed/tagged so we have to hope for Brandon Albert to hit free agency, I think. It's a flashback to the Williams draft. This OL did a good job yesterday as far as pass blocking but Forte had nothing to run thru. There biggest needs are OL/TE as mentioned. But maybe I'm too critical of Bears' playcallers but am I the only one who thinks dating back to Turner' 1st go-around that they have all been crap? I'm starting to question my own judgement. Maybe this is overly picky but I always hear people talk about "play calling", when in fact the problem is the actual offensive scheme. It's not as much about calling the right plays as it is designing the right plays in the first place. The SF game was a perfect example of a team that was properly coached and prepared with a scheme to take advantage of their own strengths and attack the opponents' weaknesses, while the Bears were running a high school attack. The entire plan seems to be just have Cutler get the ball to Marshall somehow and then either run right or left a lot. The Bears continue to run the Power O instead of mixing up the runs and the plays. I only noticed once that the Bears split out Forte wide for the touchdown. That should be done way more often. Overall Tice is a horrible choice to run this offense. During his tenure, Lovie has shown he cannot manage to find a creative playcaller to run the offense.
  22. They pointed out on Mike and Mike today that 3 of our losses have come to Aaron Rodgers, Colin Kapernick and Russell Wilson, all who can scramble and make plays with their feet. I guess less so Rodgers, but the other 2 definitely gave us fits running the ball. The frustrating thing about that is that we used to be really good against those kinds of QB's. I think those kinds of QB's is when we really miss the old Brian Urlacher. Yeah, those QBs never scared me when Urlacher was still alive. For some reason they were using Shea and Urlacher as inside 3-4 LBers yesterday and they were both equally worthless in stopping anything. Shea had one really good stop playing spy, which several of us mentioned when it happened, but it never seemed to work out quite as well the rest of the game. Shea had one bad play that stood out to me when Wilson went for the run and he was very late in breaking to him to attempt a tackle. We were getting beaten over and over again by Wilson's legs and the Bears did nothing to stop it.
  23. It seemed likely anyways. It's a shame he was having a down year before the injury Ryan Clady will surely be re-signed/tagged so we have to hope for Brandon Albert to hit free agency, I think. So Albert/Long could be worthwhile targets for us. I hope Clady can hit FA cause I do think he'd come here to reunite with Jay and Brandon.
  24. Did anyone mention Jordy Nelson going out with a hamstring? I think GB also lost another lineman...
  25. Jake Long tore his triceps yesterday. I'm betting he will hit the FA market.
